We have been on the road for over four weeks and have met only one GN (who didn't really count but I'll elaborate soon). We have seen no stickers. What a pity. There are so many people on the road and my guess is that many are using the great information from this forum too. The one GN that we did meet was overheard to say as she checked her emails 'Oh the Grey Nomad Newsletter has arrived.' When I queried if I had heard her correctly she said 'Oh yeah, I just get info from it. I don't write anything.' So sadly, I really didn't meet a Grey Nomad.

Unfortunately there are a lot like that, might be members but don't contribute anything. And there are others who go to the other extreme lol

I think it really works better if you let us all know approx where you are or heading to Ruth. Does for me anyway.
I don't actually have a GN sticker on the van but I don't think I could be missed either,
Hope you are both enjoying being out in the playground.

Yes, Dougwe I realise I could have come on line and asked if any were around the areas we were but we didn't always have the internet. And I love your 'back' - couldn't miss you. (Hopefully we won't when we get back either!!)
Oh, and now I'm on line, we're in the Mallee region at the moment, heading south near Warracknabeal.

We're in Townsville visiting a new grandson - yesterday we had coffee at the Willows and fondly remembered meeting Dougwe (Chief Crazy Eagle) there a few years ago. Bit too humid for us and we'll head south on Tuesday.

Shut the front gate! The old Willows hey, my stomping ground while in Townsville, unless I am down the Strand of course.
How, Denis. I'm heading up there again end April, there by second week May.
Sorry to go
Ruth.
Blame KFT cos he taught me.

Hey Graeme. Hope the gall bladder op goes smoothly and they clear up your leg.....don't be off-line too long, we enjoy your comments, especially your tech stuff and we need as many Kiwis on this site as we can to keep the level of conversation up LOL.....now that should get things going!!
And bring on your sheep jokes. Just remember that kangaroos didn't hop nervously about and bound away till white men arrived and wombats didn't have a glazed look in their eyes and head for the nearest hole in the ground (thought I would start the NZ/AUZ jokes first)

Highwayman that's exactly what we're finding. We've only got the original sticker but it doesn't find anymore GNs than anything else. Never mind. We have met some lovely people as we stop.
Now I'll go off topic in my own thread and ask 'Is there a law about not being allowed to wave at a fellow caravanner in Victoria? We have found that nearly every person who has NOT waved in return to our wave is a Victorian. But I know Dougwe would wave - cos he doesn't know what state he belongs to anymore.
Happywanderer said

I have noticed that too NeilnRuth. The further north you go the more likely you are to get waves.
I have taken all my stickers off my van. The greynomads ones are gone as well as the Happywanderer one, after a nasty experience at the end of last year. But I'm sure I will still be recognised by some.

Having a couple of nights here at My Gambier at Pine Country c/pm which was recommended on here -Lovely little park and very friendly people. Went to look at Blue Lake, closed for wedding, but on talking to lady in kiosk, it seems Pete may have been instrumental in her hubby signing up for the Army Reserve back in the '80s and he is still in it! Will go back this morning to see if he remembers Pete. Heading for Meningie and Hahndorf, then Swan Reach for Easter.

Love the one about the Cups - that's a classic !!
I don't bother watching NZ/Aust games anymore - its so boring............same result the Kiwis win (except for the hockey and basketball when they usually best us - but only just !)
Back on topic, I think the Grey Nomads sticker needs to be changed. Im only 62 and dye my hair to brown, so I'm not a Grey Nomad haha. I suspect the younger Gorum members wouldn't be too keen on having a GREY Nomad sticker on their vehicles. Maybe the sticker name could be changed to something like "Travelling Nomads". Maybe the site needs a name change as well...younger ones may think its only for geriatrics, when of course its not. Opinions??

KFT, We'll be fine in the caravans, just worried about the "younger" ones who are camping in tents!
After Walcha, we have two months at Delungra - another farm sit
Having spent "summer" for the past 18 months, we are really looking forward to "cold", in fact to the extent that we have now taken a house sit in Wollongong in July, and one in Bright in August. Suckers for punishment
