Where are travelling from and what possible route in SA, do you wish to do a bit of the Eyre Peninsula or just drive over the top to Ceduna, also do you wish to see the south coast of WA.

We live south of Adelaide we travel mainly half a day from home. Some pictures I've posted -
Simon & Mell, The Clare Valley is worth seeing. Nice and inexpensive camp site behind the Auburn football oval, good showers and camp kitchen and power available. Rod.

Esperance and the free camps east of it.
Albany / Denmark - Cosy Corner
Shannon Nat Park
Then north of Perth these are 2 'free' campsites we often visit:
Sandy Cape (on the coast)
Ellendale Pool (inland from Geraldton)
Depending when you are here in WA - but the wildflowers are TRUELY worth the visit. They start up north around late July/August and gradually flower southwards.

Thank you all there some good ideas there keep them coming we are in shepperton at the moment fruit picking will leave in about 5 or 6 weeks hard to leave sutch nice peaple

I would travel from Clare to Pt Augusta via the road through Melrose, Wilmington and either a run through to Quorn and free camp in Pichi Richi pass or through the Wilmington pass to Pt Augusta. Much nicer and hassle free than the highway from Adelaide. Once in Pt Augusta the choice is via the west coast or through Kimba to Ceduna.

Hi Pete, Like others have said, go via Clare and stop and do a few winery visits and drive. There is also a bike trail called the Reisling Path. A nice caravan park just south of Clare. Then head to Flinders Ranges via Melrose. A climb up Mt Remarkable is a great day out. A drive into Aligator Gorge is also a lovely visit. A drive up to Han****s Lookout is a great view over Spencer Gulf but you might want to un-hitch the van. The back way to Quorn will take you through Pichi Richi Pass and a pleasant drive to Port Augusta. Or if you have time a detour to Wilpena Pound staying at Rawnsley Park is a good few days for beautiful rugged scenery and walks. Wadlata Museum is worth a visit in Port Augusta. The Arid Lands Botanic Park is very interesting and a lovely cafe with views over the gulf and Flinders. Then you have to decide whether to head straight across to Ceduna or go via Port Lincoln and up the other side but you probably want a week to do this trip justice.
