My 4y/o truma hot water system only heats on gas, not 240v. It trips the safety switch in the motorhome and house when we turn it on to 240v.
We went over a really bumpy dirt road near braidwood nsw and it hasnt been the same since.
is it worth while repairing or replacing and if i do replace , what with?
We are back home in bundaberg now, any help appreciated.

why don't you drag it down to your local auto electrician and get them to have a look - most don't charge just to look and give you a price to fix. It may be just a loose wire or something else that wont cost you your arm, leg and head

Very likely the 230 v element is faulty which is why it trips the RCD
a local caravan repairer should be able to check and replace it for you
an auto electrician would most likely not be experienced in this type of unit.

Hi Clarence, I agree with KFT,sounds like the element or wiring within the unit.I just replaced my unit after it developed a leak(six years old). The cost was $890 plus gas certificate $50.(gas /electric unit)....cheers Peter

Pop it down to Casey's at Island St in Bundy,
I had what I thought was a terminal problem with my water heater and they fixed it.Told me it was only a leaking pressure relief valve and replaced it and all good.
They could have easily replaced the whole unit which I was expecting.
Saved me lots and were very helpful. I have no connection with Casey's other than a very satisfied customer.
Hope you get sorted out.

Chances are if its just the RCD tripping . It's moisture or condensation on bare electrical parts ..
If it was the breaker ? You would possibly have bigger issues??
Yes get it checked by Experts in this field..
