We have post about places to stay but dose anybody trips along places like the Murray River , Have done a search on the forum but no hits .

The murray has many free camp sites along its length nyah trotting track is one right on the river. There are many others on both NSW and Vic sides have alook at camps 7

also trey wikicamps. You can either download it as an app to your smart phone or tablet or onto your PC if its running Windows v 8.1. 14 days free trial and then $8 - 1000's of free camp sites with pics and comments and also CP's. I bought Camps 8 book and don't use it at all now - use wikicamps as it has so many more sites listed

We have tripped along the Murray and the Murrumbidgee. We have kayaks so our focus was on organising camping and paddling. The trip along the Murray started at Jinjellic, we moved then to Howlong, Tocumwal, Barmah Lakes, Echuca Barham, Swan Hill and Wentworth. The trip along the Murrumbidgee began at Oura near Wagga, Darlington Point, Hay, Balranald and Boundary Bend. We then went through Mildura and then to Lyrup on the Murray. Some day we will continue along the Murray till we reach the end. The trips were both a mixture of free camping and caravan parks. The main thing when planning a trip is to look at a map and note the points that you may want to see. By following a river you have a basic plan already.

Thanks Glenn this is type of info I am looking for , We have camps 8 and Wikicamps so we know were we can camp , But what to enjoy on the way not just going from free camp to free camp , Thanks everyone but anybody got more to offer please feel free to do so .

Hey Brickie .Your best bet is always stop at the Info centres , the folk are only too happy to help,from the best feed in town to the local farmer that flogs veggies ! It was only 4 weeks ago I travelled downriver from Tocumwal 200kays by tinny and fair dinkum bloody freecampers every where ! They all waved and most just one van .Cheers John

In Cobram at the moment. Can't think of a nicer place to be. Many sandy beach camp sites in the area. Take your pick, you wont be disappointed. Check the local info centre for attractions & day trips.

Thanks again will be heading that way in mid April , Starting from Wodonga to Corryong loop then onto Tocumwal then maybe onto Mildura ,When it gets to cold will head north .

Brickie - the advice already given is sound. The local Tourist Info places will give you so many ideas and enough free brochures to fill a tunnel boot. (I remember asking at the Katherine one and coming away with a wheelbarrow full)
But from your post it looks like you are after info on "What's on" at any particular place. Google, for example "Things to do in Tocumwal" and check out the yearly Events Calendar for the region on the Tocumwal Information Centre pages.
Now you can see upcoming events, music festivals, shows, military parades, markets, etc. Then repeat for just about any sizable town in Australia for similar results.
(Even though there's not much left at the WWII airbase there, the little museum was interesting.)

We also find Mathoura way is very nice too. We tend to pass the Edward river picnic point (tucumwal road (dirt road) and follow onto fishermans bend road throught the barhma forest) We always find places there and can pass with the RV. If the rains are heavy we find some places tend to not be acceible unless you have a 4wd but worth the drive from Melb.
