My name is Maria Lavel, I live on a property 20km south from Springsure. My father, brother and I run a Holistic Cattle property, with free range chicken and pigs. We are very interested in having nomads stop over on their journey up north this winter. An experience we would very much enjoy and hopefully you will to!!
There is not much available for nomads in Springsure, just a roadside stop. (and i mean right by the road) I would love to provide a proper rest stop, stay as long as you want and enjoy the scenery and serenity of Central Highlands. All we are asking is a small donation of $5.
We have already levelled a bit of ground and the road is absolutely excessible. There is a couple fire pits, tours of the property and information on the style of sustainable land management that we practice.
So I would really appreciate some advice on how best to inform grey nomads of the experience available.
All the best!
Maria

Thanks for offering your property. In order to get an even wider audience you could join Wikicamp. There is opportunity for you to add your property to their data base. Just go in and have a look, it says how to do it in the FAQs . You do have to pay maybe $5 to purchase application.
Good luck and thanks
cheers Dianne

Maria, a great offer indeed, but just be a little cautious how you advertise this wonderful idea, as local shires can soon get involved and stop it.
I know of a similar idea near Esperance WA that was stopped in it's tracks due to shire and other local businesses (read CP's)
Best method is word of mouth on the grey nomad network generally, not just here on the forum. I know of a couple of others similar to you, one in SA and another in WA, word of mouth is the way to go IMO.

Marie, You are showing great initiative in opening your gate to us Grey Nomads. I would say that your scheme should be listed under free camps. Google "camping forums queensland" or camping forums Australia. and it will open up many and varied sites for you to promote you offer.
There are heaps of places for your out there in the great land of ours. As for us, we have saved your info for future reference. Thanks for the info. Jay&Dee

There is a website called -"caravanovernightfarmstay" - started over here in WA, but have some properties all over the place - no facilities at most, though sometimes water is available. Cost is recommended at $5 night. We have stayed at a couple and they are terrific. One was just 15k out of Busselton, great for exploring that area, leaving your van somewhere safe.
Their website offers a place for hosts to put their property up, as well as users to find properties. $11 joining fee allows full access to the site.

Gday...
I doubt there is any point in putting any requests to Maria in this post ... she hasn't be on line since 26 March 2015.
I would suggest a phone call to one of the numbers quoted above before simply arriving unannounced and perhaps being disappointed.
Cheers - John

I know a number of people stay at the Showgrounds, and others, stay at the caravan park. make sure you secure your awning/annex as you get a sea breeze at night. YES, it is called a sea breeze, last year our travelling companions had quite a lot of damaged done to there annex. Just check out when the annual show is, I think it is late May or early June. If you have time check out the old Springsure road on the Rolleston - Springsure road at the Staircase range. Another spot to visit is the Minerva Hills Nat. Park, some magnificent views from the lookouts.
