We have a 17" caravan with a 80w solar panel and one 120amp deep cycle GM battery.
I am thinking about replacing the old, not working 90L Electrulux 3way fridge with a Weaco CR-1110 2 way (110ltr).
To do this I am thinking of adding either 2 X 80w panels or one 120w panel and adding a second 120amp deep cycle battery. (I'll get it done professionally).
The questions are:
with us using 2 laptops at once or a TV plus lights, fan and charging stuff would the power handle it ok.
Also how would it do on cloudy days? what happens to the fridge when it rains for a week? what do others do in this situation?
Also any advise on Solar panel brands on eBay if possible? I believe I need to buy monocrystal ones.
Cheers
Jon

I did a check of your selection...
the questions are.. What are it's power consumption like and would you not be better off with more efficient Domestic [house Bar fridge]..? about 1/3rd the cost...?

A lot of domestic bar fridges have the evaporator not very well supported or protected. With travel & stuff bouncing in them they can be damaged.

Good idea about the upgrade ,we run waece 12v fridge ,freezer ,TV ,lights etc on 2x110Ah batteries and 400 of solar . may need the Genny after a couple of lousy days but usually OK. poly christaline panels are the way to go.

Thanks for the reply's.
I wouldn't even consider a bar fridge because from what I have read a 12/240v fridge is much more efficient than a 240v fridge running off an inverter, if that is what is being suggested. This site is one that suggests what I have said: http://www.fridge-and-solar.net/fridgetest1.htm
Also I wouldn't think they are built to take the bouncing and swaying that the caravan fridges take through their life.
I'm not a technical person but, taken from the Waeco site about that model of fridge, it says:
Power2.2 Ah/h at 25 °C 2.5 Ah/h at 32 °C both at 5 °C food, -18 °C freezer temp.
Hope that helps.
Cheers.

Just posted this on another thread but it may as well go here as well - A fridge test, battery power consumption comparison between a household 240 volt 140 litre bar fridge, and a 12 volt 140 litre Waeco fridge, for camping.
