Just asking if anyone has been to Merbein common in Victoria lately.
Are you still permitted to free camp there.

I note it is under control of Parks Victoria, meaning there is probably now a charge to stay there. I give up supporting Parks Victoria by no longer staying in any of their what once were free camps.

It was under the control of Parks Victoria when I stayed there just before Xmas and as I said before it was free.

Gday...
Snipped this from the Wikicamps site in my other reply ... it seems to confirm 'no charge' as do the other sites provided.
Cheers - John

We did a house sit at Mildura May/June 2014 and I cycled out to Merbein several times visiting the common. I place Kings Billabong 395 and Pysche Bends 396 both at Mildura well ahead of Merbein Common. Mildura is about 20klm from memory to Merbein. As well if you like your coffee, cafe 94 at Mildura $3 cup owned and run by a Greek family is some of the best we have had.

I have no specific info on this site but as it comes under control of Parks Victoria, I assumed charges will now apply as it does with most other Govt. parks now in Victoria. I guess if I didn't feel so lazy this morning I'd check out the Parks website !!!

we stayed there in nov last year for a week, it was a lovely spot, get in early, we stayed near the boat ramp, there is a toilet there, when you go in there take the track beside the old winery, as the other one is very rough Have a good stay. it was free then. It is an rv ffriendly town we thought
