It was interesting but it looks like it will be a while before the cost drops to what most of us can afford. :(

There are plenty of stories of solar schemes that can be put into operation right now. However I have not seen any reports of cost effect storage solutions. Until we can store the generated solar power for night use at economical costs then solar is not a viable solution.
The only reasonable solution was for a proposal for power generation on Norfolk Island. They were proposing to pump water during good sunlight and recover the energy with hydro generation.

watched the program and solar has certainly come a long way in both reliability and cost efficiency, when these small units they were talking about become much cheaper I would certainly look at putting them on my home.
