How time flyes when you are having fun. Two years ago on the 20th of March we moved out of home, into a caravan and a new lifestyle.
In that two years I have had a total knee replacement, changed my job from teaching to vineyard hand, and been on our first trip, where we met Billeeeeeee, Jules, Mel and a few other nomads, and bent the caravan. Oh did I say I left the handbrake on as well? Thank goodness for CIL.
We have no regrets whatsoever over the decision to live in a caravan, we have had a ball, seen some magnificent sights and enjoyed ourselves immensely.
I can only recommend to the hesitant grey nomad. Get out there and enjoy, the world will keep rotating despite us. Life is way too short to be double guessing yourself.
Just do it.

3 years for us in 4 weeks, never had a house to sell but love living in our 25 year old van............hubby retires in 3 weeks so we have been guided so far by where he has been working, now we have to decide where to next, is a bit daunting but gee we have seen so much and really would not have wanted to miss out on any of it.

It is a great lifestyle, on the road, or parked up somewhere. The freedom when you aren't responsible for a house and garden is amazing.

Thanks for starting this post Phil. I had to show the minister for finance your post. She has just retired and I still have 10 years to go (yes there is an age difference!!). I'd go tomorrow but I Know she is a bit hesitant. She is/was a Teacher. Waiting for our van in Apri. I'll be looking for whatever work I can while travelling. Picking fruit, driving forklifts whatever just as long as we are on the road. House will be rented so will have some $$ coming in there. Reading your opening post has made me more determined to just do it!! Kimberley, The Cape here we come. Cheers.

Jbell, we retired earlier, and have now been on the road for 3 1/2 years, working, playing, house sitting. Life is easier with no commitments. You don't have to "retire" to hit the road permantently. Four years in July, and Mr D will be on age pension. Super has been good to us.
