Hope many watched the Four Corners TV programme on 2/3/15 about the slave and child labour being used by Apple in Asia and China to build their products.
An Apple IPhone costs $5 to make and package - how much did you pay for yours?
Whats worse is Apple have previously been made aware of these issues, but have put out a grand set of instructions which they hide behind while their contractors continue to abuse people

Why pick on apple, the same applies to any product "made in china". Or should I say any product you buy.
Cheers Pete

I saw a TV program a couple of weeks ago, and one of the items shown was the Apple Iphone assembly line, which ran all day. At night another team stokes it up again with copied components and manufactures identical copies , all the same except for the software which they can't copy, so they use their own. The question was do you have an original or a copy?

Yep, I watched it, disgusted.
Why pick on Apple? because it sets itself up as a paragon andof virtue and equality, the truth is they are just as profit driven as any company, at least Microsoft are open about the fact.

Santa - my point about Apple exactly. At least the others keep their mouths shut. It applies to all the big manufacturers and retailers - Target. Kmart, Big W, Samsung, Nike, some parts made for most of the cars we drive - the list just goes on.
These companies thrive on exploiting the unfortunates. Its just that Apple actually blows its own horn about what an upstanding, good corporate, world-wide citizen it is and how it does not allow exploitation of any employed by them (they are only retailers now days) and their contractors (those in 3rd world companies who make their goods).
It was interesting that on the TV programme made in the UK, that they interviewed a "chain line specialist" (a person who works for one company and sorts out the various suppliers, contractors and other 3rd parties for her employer). She didn't condemn Apple as such, but more they had set up a Workers Charter of Best Practice and then knowingly allowed it to be ignored and then get caught out by nosey TV reporters
