Am interested in the effect of Marcia on Wuruma Dam, the local towns have been mentioned and Wuruma feeds from the local area.
Also the roads enroute have been affected with closures.
Anyone camping there now or has anyone been to the dam to check it out.
My plan is to camp at Wuruma early March and any info would be useful.
Thanks,
John

The short cut had a few big problems but crews are working on that one as well

Hey yeo John
It's a bit quiet here on the forum
No of your daily updates ?
I will not get to the dam until end of March - early April
But in the meantime I am having a ok time
The cyclone has thrown the whole of Central Coast of Qld out of wack ,
so much is unsettled and out of order .
We like to be settled and in wack here on C C Qld
Cheers from Paul

Pleased everything is working out at last Paul.
I haven't been doing updates 'cos I am neither travelling or camping at the moment. I have been updating the blog but not the Grey Nomad's forum since temporarily I am not a nomad. If anyone is interested http://yeoeleven.blogspot.com.au/2015/02/whilst-on-gold-coast.html I am in the hands of an optical specialist or will be on Monday and waiting for glasses to be delivered. I will be heading for Wuruma when cleared by the specialist and in receipt of my new glasses.

Yes Paul it is
A friend of ours lives on top of the hill at the ranger station
She drives every day to Eidsvold to go to work and she told me that is was ok to go both ways,
the dird road or the bitium was worked on at the beginning of the week to repair the damage
so by now it would be ok
Cheers John

Thank you John
It is good to know that the access is ok
When are you going to the dam?
My legs have been **** today , I can expect many days of pain and
and unable to walk - - so I am not a happy camper.
I do hope that there is a good roll up of campers in March - April at the dam .
See you there John

Following on from my previous post, I am still waiting for the glasses before setting off for Wuruma but have been given drops by the optical specialist and have to use them daily.
The latest is that the glasses were dispatched from Hong Kong on the 5th via Australia Post so anyone's guess when they will arrive but I am stocked up ready to set off.
The blog has been further updated about the Kayak recently bought and the opera nets.
The Nutri Bullet has arrived and am excited about the options for healthy eating now available to me.

I just bought glasses from Zenni and they took ages to leave Hong Kong, but got them quickly in 2 to 3 days once they got to Oz. I have had them in 8 days previously. I think the Chinese New Year may have been the hold up.

John, I've always wanted a nutribullet. Are they only powered by 240 v. Or do they have adaptors to 12 v.?

Marj,
the Nutri Bullet is very powerful, 600watts, with no adapter to 12 volts. I haven't used it in the bus yet but expect no problems with my 2500/5000 watt inverter.
Recently I added a 40 watt solar panel to the cranking battery so it is charged up all the time especially when camping in one spot for a few months.
Will report on it's performance when I get to Wuruma and resume my forum updates.

I don't want to put a dampener on your glasses John but I have just returned mine to them and they have refused to give me a full refund saying that the lenses a custom made which I imagine that they would be. My gripe is that the lenses are more than twice the thickness than my 3 year old glasses with the same prescription and look terrible.
I have also opened a dispute case through PayPal.
Regards Chris

The lenses are thicker than my last ones made in oz but I'm aware of this when ordering and always order the recommended lens for the script. I can get a thinner lens and smaller lens in oz for 5 times the price but I'm very happy with mine.

Yes frangipani. You get your eyes checked as usual then ask your optometrist for a copy of the script. You can order what you like off Zennioptical. The time before the glasses I have now I ordered at least half dozen, different frames, some as sunglasses, some normal script. None over $20.00. Never had a problem with them..

Not sure how far I will get but expect to be at Wuruma Thursday morning.

Hi all , I went out to Waruma Dam yesterday (Mon. 9th) and it was soooo very crowded and very steamy hot, hot. No room to move , so we came out again. Now at Mulgildie pub for a couple of nights. Then I go to Childers to meet my new Grandchild. Was going to go back to Waruma ...but am thinking of finding somewhere different.
Can someone tell me if there is room there in a week or so .....but then that's getting close to Easter so buggered again.
Hope to hear some good news ... Sarg.

Sounds busy as at Waruma for sure. Maybe a few out there due to the Cyclone. (Back on topic)
