All you need is Woolworths Homebrand Napisan , a capful every nowand again in the toilet.
Toilet paper , all you need is basic 2ply. Anything thicker may not break down.

The pink chemical that goes in the top often causes black 'stuff' to grow in the top tank, stick to plain water. As said above Nappy or laundry soaker from the supermarket in the bottom tank is I feel the best choice, cheap, no nasty chemical smell and easy to buy and carry. Normal toilet paper is fine, just try not to use too much of it.

Have never used any special paper just use the same quality paper that we use at home and it has never failed to break down before emptying and have only ever used generic napisan just make sure it is 34% strength sodium percarbonate with no other additives.
Cheers
David

Those using the Woolies brand should be aware that, in their wisdom, Woolies have reduced the sodium percarbonate to 24% or 28% now ! read this in another forum.
We have reverted back to the original Nappisan Vanish in the pink container, as it seems to have a nicer odour , not perfumy just a fresh smell. It's often on special at one of the big 2 .

Well, well - just went and had a look, and yes ,down to 24%!!!!!!!! We thought we were getting slack, and not using it often enough, but this answers that! Will have to look for another one, and use it daily in the meantime.
might even write to them and ask why it has chagrd.
another thing - if you are only using it for urine, you would better off just using some Eau alyptus oil, capful a day or so, the sodium percent. Is to break up no. Two's and toilet paper. Does not much at all for no. One's!!

Just put some citric acid or vinegar overnight to soak and the scale will be gone, it is just limescale usually from the high mineral content water in some areas.

I agree with you Meredith....but ONLY if it is left in there I have found. I learnt the hard way (don't we all!!) after a trip and found the black stuff a few weeks later. I got it all out eventually....and now the loo gets a good flush out and rinse at the end of every trip...and no more black stuff.
Have been using the pink chemical as per directions since ...and all good. Just clean out loo properly at end of trip before storage and all is sweet.
Just a couple of questions on the subject
