Hello people. Could you please tell me what the road/trip is like so far as road conditions (is it hilly, mountainous etc) from Tamworth to Grafton via Glen Innes? Thank you in anticipation.

Haven't been on the Tamworth - Glen Innes road for some time but the Gwyder Highway ( Glen Innes - Grafton ) is a treat.
Sweeping bend after sweeping bend.
Great views. One of our favorites.
All down hill ( mountain ) 'till Jackadgery ( ? ).
Then a level run into Grafton.
Watch the bridge in Grafton, there's a bend in the middle.
Great fun if there is a truck coming towards you.
# Glen Innes showgrounds is a good place to stop over.
Check out the Beardies Museum on the west side of town.
Standing Stones park is on the right as you leave town on the Gwyder Highway.
Tourist info center is large and worthwhile.
Lovely area.Enjoy.

We are currently house sitting in the area. (20klm out of Grafton on the Gwydir Highway). Came down from Glen Innes after staying overnight at Beardy Creek and then a camp at Lollback Rest area. You will find the highway to be some what mountainous as you are coming over the Great Divide and down the valleys into the Northern Rivers. However it is a good road, not a great deal of traffic and at all times when towing show respect and caution to the rig you are towing. The area has had 175+mls of rain over the past 3 weeks.
Enjoy the trip spectacular scenery.

Thanks fellow Nomads. Tamworth to Glen Innes is fine but had no idea re Glen Innes to Grafton. Sounds like a nice drive but expect it is a full day from Tamworth to Grafton.
It looks the best way to go, but of course could go from Bendemeer to coast then up to Grafton. Thanks again.
