How hard would it be to have a page here on the forum of a map of Australia, including Tas.
And each member is issued with a icon of a tack or flag, which they could if they wanted to, attach to the map, to show their location, and perhaps a ghosted trail showing progress'
Great as a talking point. great for meet ups?
Just an Idea?

It would be interesting to see the distribution of our forum members and where they call home in this great country but that may be a bit difficult for our members who constantly live out there in the big playground.

My signature constantly changes as frequently as our location. You can always tell by my signature our current location, i.e. Kandanga Queensland. As for a map, probably a bit to hard for the web master to administer, but for those of us who move around all the time, we can all change our signatures regularly.

Not all of us want to be tracked, as for me it would not worry me.

Not sure how you would like it to work iana as if everyone put there mark on the map it would be like one big blob.

I agree with Glenelg .. many folk are concerned about privacy/security in this digital age; also like Glenelg I would not be nervous about Ian's idea.
I reckon Dunmowin's got an improvement by noting his location now and then as part of his posts. Might improved slightly by adding a couple of words .. e.g. Kandanga travelling north (west, or towards Hervey Bay, or whatever).
BTW, how, exactly, do you add that signature DM?
FWIW the Fried Rice van will be found trotting around West Queensland later this year mostly within a couple of hundred Ks of the Tropic of Capricorn.

FR, to set up your signature, just go into your profile, on the left are a number of options. Select Signature and away you go.

It's a nice idea, though we should take reconsideration to those who have concern in their privacy/security. But, it's interesting to know about the places of the members! :)

There used to be site you could register with and mark your approximate location anywhere in aus
It was called inomad but the website appears to have been shut down.
so can be done and some privacy settings would allow all or only nominated members to see it.
I have no idea if it could be set up as a page on cindy's website with access only by registered members.
