Well I finally did it. We decided to become minimalists and so retired the old Millard and went teardrop and loving it. Coming back from Qld we stopped in at Tenterfield in Craigs caravan park. Unpowered was a beaut site and the owners couldn't be nicer. Good clean facilities and a quiet place just off the highway. The difference in towing was great and it was cosy, should have made the switch ages ago. Best bit was the mpg didn't change so cheaper travel as well. We're looking at an annex to make a bit more room when outside but other than that it fits our needs nicely. Just thought I would have a bit of a brag as we're happy chappies again and no more straining to hook up the wdh or worry about 240v as its all self contained 12v

Sounds like you have picked a beauty and loving it.

Hi Pete,
I have been thinking of building a Teardrop and my plan for an annex was to fit one of those one you see on the roof racks of a 4 wheel drives.

This is the floor plan I'm going to copy. Bunks at one end that can become a couch and table and chairs that become a double bed.
Just a quick pointer Snail. That looks like an Americn plan so you will need to mirror it so that the door is on the Aussie kerbside. Other than that it looks great.
oops sorry about that I had to search the phone for a pic as I haven't really thought of that. This is as we were leaving the sons place in Briz last month.
As to building my own well I was but once I costed things like doors, windows et al this one turned up cheaper so I saved many hours of swearing and frustration.
Doors on a teardrop normally are one per side so the US versions work ok here because unlike most vans the kitchen is at the rear so opening a door into oncoming traffic isn't an issue.
While this isn't ideal for everyone it is a very good way to travel and its amazing how many you see while travelling.
Cadpete if you don't already have it this is the US site http://www.tnttt.com/ with lots of tips on building one. Also some good pics of people using/travelling with them
