What really annoys me is those announcers on the television who cannot speak without waving their hands about. The weather cannot be described without that four finger point and up and down movement, any other point to be made has to be accompanied by double karate chops whilst every other comment is then accompanied by an imitation of conducting the orchestra.
If you happen to be one of the people standing behind the talking head it seems it is obligatory to keep nodding your head in agreement.
Why can't they just make their point without looking like a helicopter about to take off?

What is really annoying me know with news broadcasts, is how the news reader, or person on the ground makes a statement, waits while some pre-recorded sound strip is played, and the goes on to the next statement. Its like, "There have been choppers over head" sound "chop chop chop" etc. Then "there are wounded" recording cries of pain. "The bombing continues" recording distant sound of bombs exploding and so on and so on. Once one is aware of it, its really annoying .
As far as I am concerned, just read the news. The recordings are old anyway.

Even worse than that, when the news reader crosses to some reporter in the field and says "We now cross to Fred Bloggs at the Stock Exchange. Now Fred, the reason the stocks are going down is because of the dollar and the wind in China" The reporter starts nodding his head half way through this great statement and replies "Yes Frank, that is right, the wind in China and the dollar" Meanwhile, the news reader now assumes a knowing look and starts nodding his head. Just read the news, not commentate. Who cares what you think.
The other one is when a storm is forecast or rain is to continue and some clown doing the weather report reminds you to take your umbrella. As if you would be standing out in the rain asking yourself "Now what have I forgotten.?"

... or standing out in the middle of a cyclone, almost blown off their feet, yelling at the top of their voice over the wind noise, getting drowned by the driving rain and telling us how bad the storm is
Or the main newsreader introduces the story - usually telling what it is about ... and then crosses to the "live reporter" at the scene who says exactly the same info as the main newsreader just said.
Usually the "live reporter" on the scene is standing where the 'incident' happened at 10am in the morning, now nothing there, but at 6.08pm they are "live on the scene".
So little ever gets near an 'editor' and the 'reporter' is barely literate

I absolutely agree with all of the above, its almost as if its how they are taught at news readers and reporters school.
And another one is "Here are the latest news up-dates" for C----T sake that was old news 5 hours ago.
The news on all channels has become like a kinder-garden session.

I just love this. What about the Jana Wendt impersonators, that long drawl, the mouth turned down and the pause at the end when they give you their name followed by another pause and then the destination they are at. Or maybe, just maybe, when they attend the scene of some happening and interview some poor fool that lives nearby or happened to be there. If it was a fire they need someone who lived in that street to be interviewed and say: "I came out and there was a fire" We all know that, that is why it is on the news.

Has anyone noticed, or just me, that Eddie McGuire (Eddie everywhere) often wobbles his head from side to side or should I say "side by side" lol lol.
