Just about to embark on our 2nd motorhome (rented) holiday. First trip was for 8 weeks in WA And loved it and now we are preparing for 4weeks in Tassie. We are very keen to purchase our own motorhome. We have done a fair amount of research , but just wondering what other motorhome owners suggest in regards to Make/model etc. Any info greatly appreciated. TIA

we had a caravan and like yourselfs we rented a m/h 4 a months holiday in wa. when we finally made up our minds to buy one main things we looked at
1: cost of repairs & parts
2: layout
3: purchase cost
in the end we bought a winnebago 2007 ex apollo rental ford euro deluxe due to the basic layout and room to modify it to suit our needs
also they not as wide as production m/h making them easier to drive in town centers

We bought a 2002 Ford Transit KEA 2 berth motorhome and coudn't be happier...have spent 7 weeks on the road and everything has found a home and we dont feel at all cramped.... getting 10.6 l/100km and that includes up hill, down dale and 110kmh freeways....fully self contained with a huge solar panel on the roof.... we do our own oil changes (very simple and quick)

we've had 2 new 'vans so far, the latest bought about 5 months ago and up to 36 warranty faults. If you buy a fairly fault free motorhome or caravan, youre lucky!!
Prestige do a very good and well constructed m/home, but pricey.
I would do what the others have done and buy a used late model one. Before you shell out, take it to a good mechanic and get them to check the undercarriage and motor out - just as you would probably do burying a 2nd hand car.
Pick one that's in your price range, size and has the features you want
