The northern site appears to be out - we live about 20km from it and cant see any smoke..............but these ones tend to flare up in the afternoons when the wind gets up. Fingers crossed!!!!

Bit weird the message they sent out to people in Wellard last night, my daughter thought it prudent to follow the advice to evacuate and went to Midland for the night. Now I am in Tassie ATM and looked on whereis at the location of the fire and there was no way my daughters house was in danger. The evac order should have been by streets like they are near wonareroo
cheers

Howdy Blaze, The fire in the North may have looked a long way from Wanneroo but,
Fire can travel at a frightening speed, and with the winds that we are getting in the afternoons here behind the fire, it could easily travel at KPH in any direction.
I would say the authorities would not be taking any chances with anyone's live, far better to have people well out of the way rather than risk a sudden Wind Change and then have all the highways blocked with people, and stopping Emergency Vehicles getting through quickly.
There is a possibility than the Evac Order was sent to the wrong people as there are two fires burning, one North of Wanneroo the other near Wellard in the South.
