Gday
WA showgrounds aren't available exept in a few of the smaller towns.
Cheap caravan park is Club Capricorn - in the north at Yanchep. It is quite a few k's north of Perth city, but there is Marmion Ave from the end of the Freeway up to Yanchep. Last time we were at Club Capricorn it was about $25 per night.

Perth van parks are both expensive and mainly dog unfriendly !
Showgrounds are an Eastern state thing, very rare to find one that will allow camping here. We find the best idea is to keep away from the coast to the small country towns and use their caravan parks, but even these are now charging upwards of $30 a night now. Some will give a discount like pay for 6 stay 7.
When in our home state we try to do house or block sitting as an alternative to CP's . or we stay on a friends block near Mandurah, were we are currently awaiting the school holiday madness to finish.
Good luck !

none of the Perth show grounds allow camping. Club Capricorn at Yanchep sounds posh, but its a dump - if youre on Wkicamps have read of what people have to say about it.
If you don't have Wikicamps - then get it. Costs bugger all - about $7 a year and you will find heaps of van parks on the outskirts of Perth which are nice and wont charge you $45+ a night like the rest of them in Perth metro. The problem with Perth (and we live here), is there are not enough CP's and a lot of them have permanents with a queue of visiting vanners going through - no competition to make them lean and (dare I say it about CP owners and managers), mean:)
