Just completed atrip -Cairns /Melbourne /Cairns. Went down the Inland Highway-New England - Hume and back up the coast. Got really fed up having to rely on greasy food and insipid coffee from road houses and truck stops.
Where are all the lovely country cottage tea shops where a good beverage and food is served in pleasant surroundings by pleasant mature staff who are not all my "Mate", "Matey" or "Buddy"? Maybe I start out too early!
Anyone want to go into business?

If your are near Greens Lake, Central VIC over the next month, there is a mobile Cafe' set up just to the right of the launching ramp. He makes a good Latte and gives a free monkey face biscuit with every cup.

Hi Dave. Do you know that you're using the Avatar of another Member ? I didn't think that was possible, but you must have slipped through somehow.
Cheers,
Sheba.

You will find that the inland highway now bypasses all the little towns which have cafes, bakers and fish and chip shops. Those towns are still there but you must turn off the highway to enjoy them, so they are still there waiting for your business. When we travel we try to never travel on highways and try to go on the "old" highway which existed before it was realigned to bypass towns. It takes longer but you get to see and enjoy the real Australia.
Good Luck.

Maccas McCafe makes one of the best coffees around and is usually the cheapest (don't much like their food though)

Yep, what Hako said, you have to stop and smell the roses, pull in to small towns and villages, you will often find a lot more than just a cafe to hold your interest.

Anyone that spells their online name left to right or right to left is always a slippery person, so you will always slip through any web.
