The Swamp milk shake has bee around since the mid sixties. I had my first one in Cairns at the Big Apple Cafe, it was made up of a mixture of chocolate and peppermint or substitute lime or spearmint for the peppermint. It was intended to represent a swamp with the browny colour with green tinge on the surface. I slurped it to the end and there was a good belch at the end to show appreciation of a good milkshake. Sue was not impressed as she thought I left my decorum behind. The young lass who made it for me had made one but knew it as a different name. Good try everyone, a good sense of humour by all. Rod

mmmmm............so do you drink the green algae off first or the mud underneath first lol.
A belch is the sign of very cold and fresh milk in a shake - well, that's what I tell my boss. Never happens with a Maccas thickshake!!

Maybe it was a Cairns "thing". I worked in Milkbars further South and West in that time period, and I've never heard of it.
Cheers,
Sheba.
