Hi Folks my daughter is considering buying a Nissan patrol details below, would be interested to hear from anyone on the forum that has one and what they are like any information would be appreciated before they sign on the dotted line.
A mate of mine had, I think, the same vehicle Garry but not sure about all those numbers at the end of the 2009, sounds a bit like a doctor.
He reckons it was the best car he had ever had and will run it into the ground before he gets rid of it.
Now, You dad seems to know a good car so why doesn't she get one of those
Edit.....pushed the wrong key, sorry.

You should Google "nissan hand grenade" first.
Good Luck.

Hi there, from watching quite a few around me who own them, expect the engine to self destruct around 100/130 k's.
can be about a $10,000 repair job. Owned one but got rid of it about 60,000 it's. Engine is small and has to work like a thrashing machine to deliver any pulling power. That's what wears it out.
I don't mind patrols..... Bought a new one in 1998 and have done 300'000. hard kilometres and never touched it, but it's the6 cylinder diesel..... Good luck.

I gather this is a Common rail 3l Nissan. NADS, (Nissan Anti Detonation System) is only partly required, if at all. Not vehicles should have at least a snorkel, catch can, and a third party fan assist intercooler. The fuel consumption of 11.8l/100km is a bit off unless that was city traffic. Should be higher. Though I suspect the owner and dealer service was a but off. Always good to take these vehicle to specialist 4x4 workshops. They also know what NADS is and what is need for that specific model.
Based on your specs provided , go buy it. Low milage and sounds good.
If it is a Di version, which I doubt it is still a great buy. (Di = direct injection vs Common rail. Most later 3ls are CRD vehicles.).
I run a 2005 3l Di and it is running well. I do take it to special 4x4 mechanics. These guys only do 4x4s nothing else.

CRAP!
There are a lot of ZD 30 Di patrols running around all over 130Ks still working.
The one here is a CRD Patrol for a start not a Di engine, unless I am mistaken. Also Toyotas have the same "bang"effect.
2 basic things be it Toyota or Nissan, TADS or NADS it and also change the ceramic glow plugs every 50,000km.
Put it through an full independent test, NRMA type.
Be aware that the national warranties that many dealers sign you up for are, IMHO, all promise and bugger-all delivery, ruling practically everything out and placing limits elsewhere.

Good choice your daughter won't regret it, just do oil & filter every 5000 kms instead of the 10000 as noted in the log book.
Also air cleaner and fuel filters at 20000 instead of the 40000 as noted in the log book.
You can't over service with oil and filters.
It is always some one who refers to them as grenades usually the ones that have never driven a Patrol.
I have a 2002 3ltr Di and has done 185000 and never missed a beat. 85000 towing the van.
