How much are you paying for petrol in your area of Sydney where I am in the Lower Blue Mountains we have for the past three weeks had a United servo on Old Bathurst Rd at East Blaxland selling E10 for $1.059 cents per Litre and unleaded for $1.099 whilst in Emu Plains and Penrith Woolworths and Coles are charging $1.139 per Litre for E10 and $1.179 for Unleaded.
I thought the big two would have a better buy price than United but obviously I am wrong.
I thought Diesel was cheaper to produce than Petrol but at $1.369 per litre for Diesel I am wrong again.

Diesel is $1.299 on the Central Cost and is $1.429 in Port Macquarie.

BTW do you all realise using E10 is false economy. Might be cheaper at the pump but you end up using more. For the sceptics out there try for yourselves.

Same in WA - we have 2 independent retailers (both of whom are interstate - Gull and Puma) who compete against Caltex, Shell and BP. They are usually 10-20c cheaper every day (even before the prices went down) than the big players and its still the same. And in metro Perth, prices in various suburbs vary by 15c-25c with the large players.
Diesel is about 20c dearer at the cheapest station, even though I understand (and I stand to be corrected) that when they fractionate crude oil, diesel is one of the 1st products taken off long before petrol and therefore should be far cheaper - all the time. In our State newspaper there was an article about the disparity of petrol prices in the suburbs as well as diesel. The oil companies as usual wouldn't comment (how can they defend the indefensible?) but the reporter quoted sources as saying the oil co's are trying to get maximum profit out of diesel because apparently we don't complain as loudly as petrol users and so its not newsworthy and petrol prices are dearer in the lower socio-economic areas because they don't have any clout

Prices here in Darwin area are currently $1.46 for ULP, and $1.49 for diesel.
How do they justify that when it comes from Singapore?
How do they justify it when the price is cheaper in Katherine, 300 km inland?
The servos are making about 35c per litre!!
The excise on diesel was put up about 10c per litre about 10-15 years ago, when the number of diesel vehicles increased greatly

1) Be wary of the quality of diesel from some independents. Some carry very average quality fuel.
2) Diesel is what is used primarily in the transport industry. Expensive diesel = expensive goods at the supermarket.

There really needs to be a serious national enquiry into fuel distribution and the obvious collusion between the major retailers, it does'nt appear that the ACCC has the intestinal fortitude for this one or it would have happened already we need for something to be done at a Federal level.
Do you think our Federal politicians are interested in this issue or even care about it I dont think so

Far South Coast NSW the petrol IS cheaper than it used to be but we still paid 141.9/lt today.

Melbourne was as low as $1.12 upon returning home to Brisbane price up here is mean average $ 1.29 give or take.
