been at Latrobe for a couple of nights. Went exploring yesterday down to Sheffield. Had an offer of a camp on a farm but not really enough room to get in and turn. Also the back roads are very narrow and winding so will head off with the van to Sheffield today. Spectacular scenery already and am loving the NZ type gardens with Rhodos, camelias, conifer, lawns. Amazing deep dark lakes and magnificent tall straight trees.
I suspect I will be doing lots of short trips to camps - too hard concentrating on these roads so dont want to travel too far between stops.
Tasmania is a beautiful place - but did warn you re the winding, and sometimes steep, roads! Short trips is all you need. Sheffield is a lovely place, have you been to Railton yet? Topiary all over the place, and a great little free camp.

Beautiful Vida. Sounds like a good place to park up for a time and then do the trips in the car only. Keep having fun and posting those pics. Take care. xx

Sheffield is only one of the many lovely towns all through that area. Infact all Tassie is great. I won't tell you what to do or see as I am sure you will find all the good places. Just enjoy Tassie Vida.

Wow, thanks for photos and info. Keep them coming as we are hoping to travel to Tassie this time next year, so am very interested on the free/low cost camping and where you travel. We plan to stay on the island for around 3 months, so all information will be very greatly received. Enjoy your travels and stay safe.

Be sure to check out Quamby corner as a campsite. Top park in very rural setting with all. Great base site whilst touring that part of the state. Have you tried wikicamp, a great app and shows all free and cheap sites
