As grey nomads we see first hand what our country cousins have to put up with, and yet, our forum "Grey Nomads" has ruled the post inappropiate. Again WHY.

Because she can ? I also thought it was a good debate, and overwhelmingly backing the people who were ONCE the lifeblood of our country, I did note that politics were bought into it, however it was in general, and not One party, against another, ?
It has been widely circulated on a large variety of chat rooms and forums, with some effect from the backlash ? As the bank has now suspended the actions they were taking, and have put a Moratorium on the current procedures, also the government has said they will get the relevant facts, and look into it.
I thought it was an important thread, and could not understand why it was pulled, We may have been ready to bat, But it is Cindy's ball.?

The thread was closed as it was becoming political. As we have mentioned in the forum rules, we do not allow political discussions on this forum. This is because, in our experience, these types of discussions lead to bad feelings. We created this forum to be a positive and welcoming place to discuss the grey nomad lifestyle. Although we understand that some discussions may take other twists and turns, we do not feel that political discussions lead to a positive atmosphere.

I can understand why the thread was closed despite my intention of being non political.
Sometimes other factors and opinions change the original intention of a post.
We all have different beliefs and if we all thought the same it would be a dull old world.
I was disappointed different things were brought into the thread and understand why Cindy closed it down.

I agree with Cindy. It was getting political, and reached the end of discussion.

I can understand why the 'webmaster' closed it...nevertheless, it is because of the tame politically correct way we are moving in these times, the country is and has been badly managed for several years with no improvement in sight.
That is the reason why I choose to listen to a broad spectrum of the media and am a massive radio fan, tuning in to stations with varying and differing opinions and political views, from the left ABC to the extreme right of 2GB and all in between...it will be a very sad day if/when either side is shut down or forced to change their views via a minority of complainants.
Honest and tempered political opinion needs to be desperately retained in this country if we are to have the governments that we all deserve, which is considerably better than what the past few years is giving us with no change for the better on the horizon.
God Bless Australia...we need you!

Gday...
I agree with the need to foster and retain honest political opinion. However, this forum is the friendly, informative, helpful forum it is because such discussion - even if it begins as 'honest and tempered' - seems to sink to pointed personal comment too frequently.
Let's keep this forum for what is is renowned for and does so well. There are other forums where broader, contentious topics are tolerated - even welcomed in a couple of cases
Cheers - happy travelling and stimulating debate - John

For our part after reading the original post, I validated the report (made sure it was factual) made a appointment with the local head man at my ANZ bank at Wynyard in Tasie and firstly withdrew a large sum from my progress account. (All of it) I then closed all of my other operating accounts
, told him why, he was not aware or so he said, however his small branch copped a fairly big hit yesterday. The only thing that Ppppps me off is that he has somewhere to sleep.
while I understand the closing of the other post I say this, unless we cease to see everything through rose coloured glasses, are allowed to voice our concerns openly without fear or favour, we will be managed by social media, this forum is but one manifestation of social media. We will get what we deserv.

Plenty of opportunity for political debate in sites like this http://aussiepolitics.proboards.com/ if your up for it.
Grey Nomads is a politics free site, we all agreed to abide by the rules when we joined.
Aussie Motor Homers also allow political and religious discussion http://aussiemotorhomers.com/forum/index.php disagreements abound, if your that way inclined go for it.
My feeling is Cindy has the right formula.
