only minor problems
set squab had to be replaced 6 month 10000 k
2 recalls (seatbelts nd some suspension bushes)
trim clip in rear seat area
radio replaced due to intermittent fault
but overall great vehicle and very nice to drive

I did some research and the isuzu motor and drive train is one generation before the Colorado motor, and the holden is more powerful.The holden motor is a VM / fiat supplied under licence.The Colourado had 6 speed auto and the Isuzu 5 speeds.warrentee is better on the holden.I would pickthe holden. Ask Dougwe, he has a new Colorado.Bill

My problem is a vibration that occurs at approx 103-110 kph from day one
Holden have diagnosed it after eighteen months as a tyre problem and now suggest I replace the tyres and they will compensate me if I pay for one of the tyres as a good will gesture as they don't warranty tyres.
I was wondering if anybody else has this problem it seems to be only on LTZ models with alloy wheels from feed back I've had.
Other than that it has has been a great tow vehicle.

No they are Bridgestone Duelers which are standard tyres supplied by Holden

Bridgestone one of my fav tyre companies. Nearly every time I purchase Dunlops .. I buy the bad batch.. From way back in 72 ... work has new Colorado.. Not too impressed with auto .. Can't make its mind up what gear it wants..

Had the same problem years ago with Goodyear's on an EA Falcon. The tyres are out of round and at the quoted speeds the tread runs concentric and the axle is running out giving the vibration. It can be picked up when the tyre is being balanced, the tread runs out of true on the balancer, which is why I have always checked the way the wheel assembly runs on the balancer ever since.

I had the same problem which started the whole situation plus the steering wheel would also vibrate depending on the road surface.
I have had several scenarios given to me as I first thought it was drive train or transfer case problems then it was suggested that body mounts were too rigid and this caused the vibration of the seat.
Holden gave me case number and started to investigate what it was and over the time I have had the wheels balanced and rotated three times but it hasn't eliminated the problem, although it has made it better.
I've spoken to several LTZ owners that seem to have the seat vibration and one in particular who owns a tyre store changed his wheels and tyres to steel rims and that eliminated the problem.
I told Holden that this could be the problem and now they have indicated that the tyres might be at fault and want to change the tyres with supplying three and I am supposed to buy the fourth one with no guarantee that this will fix the problem.
If you have this seat wobble speak to your dealer as it is not an isolated problem.
Other than the vibration I am extremely happy with the vehicle as the fuel consumption is fantastic towing a 2.5t van.

A Ranga Phil, hmmm, I married a 'ranga' but we ride in a 'colly'. Have the same vibrating passenger seat Wal, other than that pretty good. 4wd has allowed us to get off track more and performs well if you know how to drive 'low range'.

To be perfectly honest it doesnt matter whos car you buy as long as it does the job safely and economically. Im a Ford man because I had a terrible run with holdens.

I fail to see why you should be asked to pay for tyres. If holden mechanics are so in competent that they take 18 months to diagnose a simple tyre problem they owe you a set of tyres for mucking you around for so long. I don't think your problem is as simple as they would like you to believe. It is more likely to be an inherrent harmonic vibration in the drive line that will cost holden dearly to fix and your just getting the run around until its out of warranty. If they are so sure tyres will fix the problem TELL them to fit four new ones and demonstrate to you that this is so. Don't take no for an answer.

we cannot leave the keys in the ignition (turned off) as it flattens the battery in 24 hrs. It has been back to Holden to try to find the problem. It is not the first they have heard of. Their response "its illegal to leave keys in the ignition" (they can't find where there is a power leak) Most farmers with multiple vehicles leave keys in vehicles on farm.
I know this is probably a minor problem to some with an easy solution but does not get to the root of the problem. Will be taking it up with another dealer soon.

Thats one of the reasons I decided not to buy a Mazda BT50 you have to remove the keys and lock the doors .
It's not illegal to leave the keys in if you are with the vehical . Camped in the bush car on acc listening to radio/cd and UHF waiting for others to turn up , this I have done many times and battery goes flat , that's BS , I don't need that crap .
I checked out the Colorado just a few days ago , it has the most torque of em all 500nm but at higher Revs not as useable .

That certainly seems like a problem and I suggest should not be accepted.
I leave my keys in the ignition for many weeks on end when not using the Colorado as it's only used to tow the van and it has no affect on the battery. I would be contacting customer care at Holden to get this sorted.

Jack wheel off the ground .. Grab some chalk or Crayon . A screwdriver etc will suffice.. Hold chalk just off the tyre and rotate.. This will check any runout in tyre.. Don't let them cover up issues.. Rotating tyres is one way hiding an issue.. By putting bad wheel on the back..
i did my mech appretiship at Holden .. Nothing has changed..

what rims do you have? mag or steel, even if you bought it off the floor with mag wheels they may still be after market. The steel wheels originals may be vibration free because they are spigoted on the hub correctly, they do not reley on the studs to be concentric. The mag rims may reley on the studs therefore they get bumped out on the first bumps in the road. The mag wheel people have spacer rings available to spigot it correctly on the hub and not the studs.

Hi Dreamcatcher. I have a 2013 LTZ and love it. On the tyres there's a yellow dot (may not be visable anymore) that is supposed to line up with the valve stem. A lot of them aren't fitted this way from the factory and this causes vibration at around 100kmh. I read this on a 4x4 forum while I was doing reseach before purchase. If you can still see the dot ask the dealer to refit your tyres and see what happens. Could save you some bucks. The ute is great to drive and pulls the 5'er no worries. Only issue i,ve had was a recall on the bushes in the front end. Only done 30000kms though.

Try going to a TRUCK wheel alignment SPECIALIST and ask them to balance the wheels ON THE TRUCK. They can do this with the gear they have.
By doing this in situ,,, you
BALANCE EVERTHING INCLUDING;
tyre
rim/wheel
disc brake rotor
brake rotor to brake pad run out (if any)
grease in the hub (have seen this cause problems before - ie lump on one side and because it is in the centre it needs higher speed to show up as a problem)
running bearings
See if they can find anything this way.
If the do they start looking closer AND MANY OF THESE GUYS ARE VERY GOOD AT HUNTING DOWN PROBLEMS , they love the challenge, and their reputation at solving these things is precious to them

This assumes the tyre are not the problem, if they were the problem the problem would have been solved previously,,, they're the easiest to solve.

While the extra gears in autos, eg six speed, help fuel economy I am wondering if the penalty when towing a heavier load will be higher transmission wear and replacement.
It is said that auto transmissions wear most through heat generated when changing gears. Any extra gears dictate that gear changing is increased significantly.
Time will tell I suppose. Although owners often don't give much feedback on problems when the vehicle is out of warranty.

This assumes the tyre are not the problem, if they were the problem the problem would have been solved previously,,, they're the easiest to solve.
