I'm back. This time looking for advice on what to use to lubricate the zippers on my pop-top caravan. They are getting stiff to operate and am affraid that they might just stop working. Too expensive to replace, so need to fix.
Many thanks in advance. KB

Gday...
I use this for such jobs -
But they also have it in aerosol now - not used it on zippers, but it is apparently quite effective.
I also use silicon spray on heaps of stuff (hinges/seatbelts/catches etc) that needs lubricating on the van and car.
Cheers - John

Keiron,
I use Dry PTFE Lubricant put out by WD40.Works very well and will not stain (as usual check in a out of way place). Not cheap a 150g aerosol is about $20.00

Soap or a wax candle can help.

G'day
Years ago when I was an active 'tenter', each year I used an old candle stub to rub into every zip on all our tents - and the stub is still at home somewhere even today. Cost - $0 as it was an old candle stub

Hi All
From boy scouts and later on my wife was involved in Girl Guides we used lead pencil. Cheap everyone has one some where near them.
Yes good old lead pencil just rub the pencil along the undone zip, go on it will not take long. Ralph.

Mr D uses a stick of a yellow waxy sort of stuff, wipes it on zips, and also on sale track to lubricate. Seems to do the trick. I asked him what it was called - "I dunno" was reply. where would you buy it from "I dunno"
Does it work - I can reply to that, a resounding YES. Must be able to get it from camping shops - probably called "zipper lubricant" Sorry cant be of much more help.

Hi keiron, I use silicon spray on zips. Works well. Some silicon sprays are drier than others.
Cheers John

The pencil works (it contains graphite, used by locksmiths to keep locks working) but can be a bit dirty.
Dri-lube is excellent, but a spray tends to get everywhere, so the stick is better, smaller, and cheaper, and my preferred choice.
In an emergency, or if you are really tight for space or money, the candle does almost as good a job, and is essentially free.

I use the item above, bought at a country IGA on a shelf among WD40 and similar products. It is like a soft candle wax (which probably works just as well) and you just run the stick along the zips, it is excellent. One advantage is no spray going everywhere. Bunnings or other hardware or camping stores will probably stock it also.
