I have noticed that due to some people being abusive to others, the forum has been shut down. I hope that this never happens to this forum as I feel it's important that we continue to treat this one as a friendly forum. What do you all think?

We've been through a rough patch recently - I was one of those who had his avatar and signature taken down, but after thinking about it for a couple of weeks, Im back here - all positive, keen to learn from others, help when I can, laugh and chat.
Lets all be adults and get over the sulks and dummy spitting and enjoy this Forum again.
Had a great 5 o'clocker with a couple of other grey nomads today - we have a great life :)))))))

"Currently unavailable" doesn't mean the same as "shut down". Can anyone confirm if the forum's "unavailability" is permanent or temporary? Could it be that they're just doing maintenance or dealing with technical problems, or maybe they just haven't paid their bills?

The moderator of the WikiCamps forum has temporarily closed the site due to the amount of "general chat" invading the site. He will reopen it in the not too distant future but will strictly limit the content to travel help and technical tips. God only knows where people who insist on writing drivel about themselves will go now. Oh I know, they'll have to all crowd onto this forum.
By the way, how Yeoleven ever got the impression I thought his contributions were in the same category as those I that I alluded to, is beyond me. For what it's worth and to set the record straight, I like so many others looked forward to reading the accounts of his travels and experiences. He actually added something to the conversation rather than just extending it for no good reason.

Forums are a place where people can be anonymous if they want - they don't have to use their own name, or give details of where they are etc. They can then comment in negative ways, or insult people, or make assumptions about topics, sometimes wrong assumptions. Maybe this is because they are repressed in their everyday lives, or are unable to speak up for themselves in a personal situation - I don't know, but that is one thought that I have had with some posters on forums I read. So maybe we should be more tolerant of people, and keep our negative comments to ourselves. Lets all just enjoy this beautiful life - never know when it will be taken from us.
And here is me thinking I must check out Wikicamps forum - too late again. Then - why bother with more than one forum and this one is my favourite even though I seem to miss all the excitement that causes people to get huffy and make them leave LOL. Or is it private messages that upset people? At least I get a smile out of so many of the posts on here and it feels like family now!

It's a pity that abusive subscribers can't be 'closed out',
instead of forums being 'closed down'.
There can never be a valid reason for abuse of any description.

Compared with other forums I have known this one seems the best I have come across so far and the most friendly and helpful.

I think if someone is getting abusive on the forum,all the other forum members should jump on them or get them closed down.( i hope that's not too abusive)
Life is just too short for that sort of C#@$ ,here we are in the prime of our lives ,just wanting to have fun and enjoy other peoples conversations ,and here they are some clowns wanting to abuse ,lie and
hurt other people. I think it's up to us(forum members) to tell these clowns where to get off.
Now that i've got that off my chest ,i feel a lot better.
Sorry ,i know that had nothing to do with wiki camps ,but abusers are everywhere ,even on GNF.
