Without actually realizing it at the moment....there is that something that actually makes your day......subconsciously gives you a lift, yet is perhaps taken for granted. I mowed the lawn the other day. About 3pm. A warm day, quite still. After, I sat on the garden bench with fatdog....a beer in my hand.
Sitting there, with the warmth of the sun.....the smell of the cut grass and those little flies hovering....
Thinking back......how good was that.
What is it that you love?

"Lawns" are the bits of grass around your campsite that you cut short to deter the snakes.

woke up at midnight to the mobile phone indicating (buzzing) that there was a text message. Had been expecting a message from a friend to say she had become a grandmother. But no, it was a message from our precious grand daughter in Perth "love you heaps Nan and Pop" (she forgets there's a 3 hr time difference) but was still worth waking up to read this.

But, but, Gerty, I have a bad back and down on all fours with a pair of scissors is not a good look and I tell you that for free.
I could only do that during GN working hours though 10.00am - Midday, with a GN Union Rules one hour break in the middle.
I must admit I am thinking of getting some hedge cutters today just to clear a path down to waters edge so my little tootsies don't have to walk on the prickles. One has to look after ones self.
Now, George and Fat Dog, what was the original topic? That mate of mine, Wombat is not even here and he has taken your topic "off topic".
Oh yes! I love Greens Lake and the great people it attracts.

I love the life I have - travelling this beautiful country with a very special person. I love sitting at places like Greens Lake or Wuruma Dam for months on end, meeting new Grey Nomads and old friends from the forum.
I love sitting and watching the changing scenery over the lake or dam.

I love paddling one of my kayaks at dawn (with mist rising off the water) on a quiet dam or even better in a quiet tree lined clear backwater (like the everglades section of the headwaters of the Noosa River near Harry's Hut in Cooloola NP).
Can only be matched by a moonlight paddle on a still Autumn night on Lake Wivenhoe, stopping from time to time to sample a glass of a good Riesling & a piece of cheese perhaps. Momentarily lying back, feet in the water, cool glass in hand, gazing at the heavens.
But then there's the serenity of wakening on the first morning out in the caravan after a break from the road, with SWMBO sleeping silently beside me and the faint sounds of the Aussie bush in the background.

I love, .... that I was able to cross this beautiful continent,
the fact that I hadn't a clue where I was going, didn't matter,
I loved meeting lots of caring people,
I loved that my 3 year old grandson, would ring me, too make sure I was ok and to make sure the kangaroo's were alright.
I love that I know I will be out there again very soon.
ps I love that I have more Emoticons

I love my other half and our 2 cats above everything else.I love the fact that we have been able to own a decent tow rig and caravan...and now have the ability to skip this mundane life and git out there as soon as we can. I love the great feeling of cruising along on my big chookie with the wind about me...free as a bird.
I love sundays on the local community radio with dusty Doug playing his memories and country music....
