Had to buy a new hose as the old girl split. Smell is really bad after two days of use. We fill the kettle from the tap in the meantime. Successful suggestions appreciated.

Gday...
If the hose is in fact a "garden hose" .... rather than "drinking water/food grade" quality (usually blue) ... I doubt you will ever get the "toxic smell/taste" out of it.
Especially after it has been lying in any sort of warm weather
If it is actually just a 'garden hose' (usually green), I would suggest you stop using it if you can ... and buy a 'drinking/food' grade hose (like one of these) at your next opportunity.
cheers - John

Hey John, thanks.
it is blue but, have should have checked its suitability Now that you mention it. Only here for two nights before we head home. Travelling again in 4 weeks so I can get the correct hose type before then. Looks like our garden has a new hose to call its own.
Regards Roger

Have you noticed that several things you buy now, stink and smell toxic. Like the hessian shopping bags from Coles, I bought a few months ok and they are fine, I had to buy one recently and it stink of petroleum, YUK!

Hi DON'T buy the drinking water light blue hose from bunnings, the water tastes like plastic the same as a garden hose. Rule of thumb I have found if it's nice and soft like a garden hose the water will taste terrible.
