I changed from Apia to CIL. Apia was cheaper and also monthly payments but Apia have a high inflexible Excess of $500.00. Not a good deal if you break a windscreen. You pay the first $500.00. CIL give you one free windscreen annually, if you break a second time, excess is $200.00...

We have our van insured by CIL, they had no hesitation to insure us even though we live in the van 24/7. RAA and another insurance mob didnt want to know us (not good for business).
I recently mad the stupid mistake of leaving the caravan handbrake on for about 60KMs and burnt the brakes out, also the ESC no longer works and CIL were very good. The assessor came out, we both had a good giggle (at my expense) and they accepted the claim, no more questions. $200 excess added to my encounter with the tree at Kimba set us back $400, however the peace of mind and brilliant service CIL had to offer are IMO 2nd to none.
PS we have the RAA for our full comprehensive car insurance at $53 a month (max no claim), CIL with $5000 worth of cover on our personal effects $68 a month.
Needless to say Im very pleased with CIL.
Safe travels and beware of trees that bite caravans

CIL is our insurance company as well - we have a motorhome, and looked closely at the CMCA insurance offer, compared to CIL, and the difference was so small as to be not worth changing. We get free windscreen a year as well, but you should be aware that if you get small chips repaired, and claim it on insurance, that is classed as your windscreen for the year.
We got a new windscreen earlier this year, and the service was fantastic - two guys came to where we were, and removed and fitted, in very short time - though one day we must take the tape they put on off!!!!

LOL at RAA not wanting to know you.
We insure our half cabin boat with club marine for 9 months, only layup insurance over the winter 3 months when we use the van. Asked RAA did they have a similar insurance, because we were only on the road with the van for 3 months (ie 3 months full cover 9 months layup in a locked garage), where as someone on the road for 24/7 was getting very good insurance cover. No was told same rates regardless of use.
Happy Travels

It's amazing the cost of insurance is it not, like everyone ring around for the best deal ended up with YOUI $2-300 cheaper then the big rivals which have been listed here. Currently looking at renewing the rego and greenslip for the tug AAMI which we always use $675, got on line and ended up with Colonial Mutual $345 WHY!!!! such a huge difference. As far as I am concerned all insurance company's are rip off merchants.
