Also there are some good books available.
Do a search for:
- Jo Clews' Australian Camp Oven Cooking
- Grub in the Scrub by Bernadette Jackson
- Cooking with Camp Ovens by OzWit
A tip I can give you is to "crack" the lid, that is add a small 'S' shaped hook under the lid, so the veg roast rather than steam.
A piece of bent wire will do similar to a coat hanger. Does not have to be big. Use a Trivet under the roast & vegies. Consider cooking the roast and veg separately.
Hope that helps - David

And use less coals underneath and more on top to crisp up the taters.

Best tip so far - agree. More top heat.
A tip I learnt from someone, Jo Clews? Was to throw a handful of twigs and kindling on the camp oven lid towards the end to give a burst of heat.

Sure to bring smiles from your guests! Here is a new way to prepare your Christmas Turkey.
1.. Cut out aluminium foil in desired shapes. 2.. Arrange the turkey in the roasting pan, position the foil carefully (see attached picture for details) 3. Roast according to your own recipe and serve. 4. Watch your guests' faces...
May your stuffing be tasty May your turkey be plump, May your potatoes and gravy Have never a lump. May your puddings be delicious And your pies take the prize, And may your Christmas dinner Stay off your thighs!
