Just loaded the new camper for the first time. Fits well, and is much lighter than the ol freeway. Total cost so far is less than $3000, not inc labour, as I designed and built it myself. Its amazing what you can do with an inverter welder and simple power tools. Will post some inside pics soon. Bill
I reckon you should paint a Atlantic Salmon on the sides.

The Atlantic salmon might look suspiciously like a carp....Its an improvement on the freeway, and less than half the weight..As I like building things, it good fun.Here.s a pic of a threadfin salmon I landed yesterday..
You're a clever dick, Bill. It's looking great, and I'll bet you appreciate the extra space below the seating area and kitchen bench. Nice little "boot" too. I like the side door and the sliding windows. You've obviously put a lot of thought into building that thing.

Yes , Gary. I can get in without up coupling the boat trailer And am going to fit a wind out canopy in the near future. The Freeway was great , but too heavy. Mine went 840 kgs, so you can see the load plus extra spring help. Will take it on its first trip next week. Bill

It looks great Bill. So many slide ons weight too much for the average ute. I'm looking for a light one possible a pop top.

I will weigh it when I go away , next week, as they have a weighbridge at the barge terminal in Townsville.I would estimate it weighs 350 to 400kgs .It definitely seems lighter than the freeway.I found poptops always leak, eventually.Bill

Love your work.
I've been very handy in the past & I must admit to several daydreams of doing something like that myself.
Well done.
