We bought a Webasto at a trade show several years ago. I decided to have a go at fitting it myself (pen pusher by trade). The hardest part was drilling the first hole in the floor, once started all was good. The Webasto has been good - a little noise when starting up - otherwise excellent and uses very little diesel fuel. Dometic may also be good but we opted for the Webasto.

Our Kedron came with Webasto - would not have survived winters without it.

We have a Dometic. Always been pleased with it. Uses very little diesel per hour of running. Just this month though it has started smoking on start up. OK when running though. Anyone recommend a sercice agent in Perth.

Good Dometic agent in Manjimup. When we were based at William Bay, near Denmark, they arranged for a freight co to collect it from us, took it to town, serviced then returned to us. Check out Dometic listings for their agents.
NOTE: diesel heaters need to be serviced regularly.

Generally no! Webasto heaters are maintenance-free and do not have to be inspected every two years. We only recommend operating the heater every two months for 10-15min.

ok, I checked ours and its a Webasto 2000 ST
it goes like a rippa and hardly uses any fuel..
flat out its rated at 240 mil an hour... so if it ran flat out for 4 hours it would only use ONE litre of fuel..
but after they warm up the van they turn back the heat automatically down to idle and then off... if it gets cold again, they turn themselves back on...
the pulse pump makes a knocking noise but if its mounted properly on the rubbers they are not too bad...
good luck!

Thanks for that. I have to go up that way to visit rellies on a regular basis.
We live in South Perth, so I will check up if there is anyone down this way first.
Just arrived home after two months on the road.

This is a bit of a Holden/Falcon discussion. Do your homework and select the best deal. The best deal may be the one where you are assured of the best service rather than the best price. I was in bit of a hurry to get mine fitted so the dealer that could supply first won the day. Webasto won but I was initially looking at the Dometic one.

i have one of these its gr8 m8 woof .and a gr8 company to deal with i buy heaps of them even stuff for my business
Gidday Dibs, had a look at your link, ? Heater looks and sounds good, Much trouble to install ?? and does it come with full instructions ?/ The company seems to have a very good reputation, as far as quality and service, go. Price looks good compared to both Dometic and Webasto, who seem to control the RV market, and make you pay big $$$ For supply and for Installation .

yep dazren
i found it the cheapest one around there mostly all the same or work in the same way so i thought why pay 3 times more for a big brand one when i could get this one . was easy to install good instructions and works gr8 . little bit of fan noise in side but all fans and fan heaters air conditioners make a noise don't they . out side is a bit noisier and there is a bit of black smoke and diesel smell on start up but it goes away when running . same again without the smell for a air conditioner . fitting instructions were good and running instructions were good . biggest problem i found was priming the pump first up. .
and like i said there a good company to deal with i have been a customer of theres for about 5 yrs never had a problem . i bought a remote fro the hester and part of it was missing .1 phone call and 2 days later it arrived .
recommend this shop and this product

this is what is says on the webasto site...
Do Webasto heaters need to be serviced? Is a regular technical inspection needed?
