I knew it wouldn't take long for insurers to develop a whole new scam to get more out of the compulsory NSW third party insurance. With the NSW government considering demerit points for parking infringements.. The scary part is all insurance companies will follow suit once they see a new untapped profit margin is waiting in the wings

If I read the articles on this subject correctly you have your facts wrong.
You will only loose demerit points for parking in DISABLED SPACES which I, and I would think many people, would agree is a long overdue idea.

Sources within the system are saying this is only the start, parking demerits for any parking breach were in the mill before to disabled parking issue raised it's head . State and Local government along with Insurance companies are always on the lookout for a new revenue source and this is an easy source .

Gday...
I must be missing something here Wommie - if QBE is offering a substantial DISCOUNT if you have NO demerit points - how is this a "revenue source" ?
If someone has attracted "demerit points" doesn't that suggest this person is perhaps not as "careful/cautious" (or is it only luck? ) and just may be a 'more risky' customer?
Personally, I think it is much better to charge those who are "potentially more risky" rather than those who are more "cautious/careful".
It works for me - but then I have no demerit points, and haven't had any since I was considerably younger than now.
Cheers - John
