Have just bought a second hand camper,or could even be ninth hand,it has a Lido junior gas burner. Not sure if this is the right place to enter my question. Anyone of you guys know how to operate these things as mine is non co-operative. Anyone know where I might get hold of a user`s manual?Thanks for any help. Dodger

Not familiar at all with the stove you mention so I went and spoke with my friend Mr Google.
I don't know if this is the same model as you have .. but both sites state the unit is NOT suitable for use in a caravan/camperhome/campervan - or indoors.
Sorry I can't find anything else.

Thanks for the reply Rocky. They come in two models apparently,one for o/d and one for i/d.
If it's like ours it has a built in safety thing when lighting. Drives me nuts. You have to push the knob down, light with a lighter (unless it has a spark thing) and KEEP holding the knob down for a few seconds. If you release the knob too soon it goes out and you have to do it again. Sometimes it takes me 6 times. Hubby can do it almost first time every time. Not sure if that helps. Yours may not be like that.

Will give it a try soon as i`ve finished breakfast. Anything other than the norm takes some figuring out the older I bloody get. Mind you I was called a genius because I know how to "load" music in me ipod and know how to play it.

Your bloods worth bottling Ruth. It works a treat with just a touch of the button and a flick of my lighter. Next question: How do you judge when your gas bottle is close to empty?or do you carry a spare?

Hi Dodger , that's a good question , when ours runs out the word DAMN comes to mind , we only use 4.5kg cylinders and I carry an extra for the portable BBQ , although I think there are external gauges that are available , probably BCF or one of those mobs .

I had succumbed to the carry-a-spare trick but space is becoming rarer than a $100 note.I will check out the BCF website to see what they have to offer.

A quick way to see how much gas is left is to pour boiling or very hot water over the bottle & then feel the temperature of the bottle with your hand.
It will be cool(er) up to the top of the remaining gas inside the bottle.
Some of those stick on gas level indicators work pretty much the same way except that there is a difference in the colour of the indicator strip ... after you pour on the hot water.
Of course you could buy a gas fuse that has a indicator of the remaining gas.

Instead of carrying a spare gas bottle why not carry a small butane cooker which only requires cartridges? We have a 4 burner gas stove in the caravan but also carry the portable butane cooker. This time it was the caravan gas stove that came to the rescue when our butane cooker died but if your gas bottle runs out, the butane cooker is a good stand by., (I like using it outside instead of cooking in the van.)

Good thinking 99,it will take up less space than a chubby gas cylinder as well.I have one laying around someplace,just need another pack of cartridges.

When we were planning a round the block trip in 2000, I went to a lot of trouble to get together a 2 burner primus gas stove with bottle, stand & grill plate.
As a parting gift my Daughter presented me with a butane burner & after using it, the primus gas kit was assigned to the back of the shed where it probably still resides.
I now have a 2 burner 'UBeaut' butane cooker complete with all the accessories in its own case & a few packs of gas cartridges under the kitchen seat. I also have the original cooker in an old Hilti drill case with all the accessories that is sometimes used on picnics ... just for old times sakes.
Of course there are now lots of cheaper 2 burner butane cookers on the market than the $100 one that I purchased a few years ago.
My advice is ... dump the gas cooker & get a two burner butane one.
