I have been in contact with Beth and she wanted to update you on her recovery and asked if I could post the 2 photos attached (she is having some phone problems at the moment). She appears to be very good spirits regardless of how the photos appear. I know she will be back on the forum soon to thank you all in person for your good wishes and concern.

Just think of all the reading you can catch up on Beth. With some good books around, the time will fly, and you'll be back on both feet again, and rearing to go.
Take care,
Cheers,
Sheba.

That looks really nasty, Beth. So sorry it happened to you. Perhaps your local librarian should become your new best friend for a while. Take care.

I hope you get better soon, that looks nasty.
What happened? If it's been said elsewhere I have been MIA so I haven't seen it yet.

Beth thought she had twisted her ankle on some loose metal whilst wearing thongs. Turned out when she got it checked that she had a fractured ankle. Not sure why the bruising is so far up her leg though.
I don't think she is able to come on here as only has her phone and it's not set up with the right app.

Thank you so much HW for explaining. Wow that must really hurt, I know I was in a lot of pain when the dentist broke my jaw removing a stubborn tooth. I have a high pain tolerance but it hurt for 8 weeks.

Oh dear, like Grams, we have been on the move a lot over the past week or so, and have not lurked as much as usual. Please pass on to Beth for a speedy recovery. (I too have worn those boots!)
I haven't been on the puter for a few days,,,been a little busy , and I still haven't been able the link my android phone to the puter so I can upload photos. I can only load them straight to Facebook. Hence how Libby loaded them onto here. Thanks Libby.
Long story short, I got Cellulitis (skin infection) in my foot, so ended up back in ED. I had IV antibiotics overnight, then they sent me 'home' to a friends house in the arvo, under Logan Hospital's 'Hospital in the Home' Initiative. This is for people who don't necessarily need to take up a hospital bed, but need IV antibiotics or whatever. So a nurse came twice a day to 'feed' me antibiotics and check the swelling and redness. Great initiative.
So I'm now at my sisters at Tin Can Bay where I'll stay until it's healed. I'll be seeing the Ortho Dept at Gympie on Tuesday and probably a few more times within the next few weeks.
Grams, I slipped on gravel in my son's driveway. It's very sloped and I should never had tried to walk that way. Marj, they were good ortho thongs but I don't think it would have mattered what footwear I had on. The big bruise up the leg was from the initial fall and slide. The fracture is from the ankle joint and up the fibula to the outside, if that makes sense. I can't remember the proper term. The swelling and redness has dissipated but I'm still on antibiotics.
The worst part of it all is that I can't put any weight on the foot at all, even with the boot, so have to hop with a walking frame. Hard yakka for this out of condition weakling, I tell you! But I'm building the 'guns' very quickly!
I might add my sis & bil have been travelling around Oz since just after Easter so it's wonderful to see them again too.
Thanks for all the well wishes. Much appreciated.

Thanks for the update Beth, I am so glad you are now on the mend. Wow I wish all hospitals did that, they do this all the time in the UK and it saves the hospital beds for the very needy ones. I also think you tend to heal better when your more relaxed and not stressed in the hospital.
