just wondering if anyone can tell me more about my 2007 Jayco J-Series Discovery, single axle 17' 6"?
Is it true that Jayco uses Holden & Ford stubs & hubs? fitted with white Sunraysia type 6 stud wheels.
If so, what is the difference w/o pulling the wheels off?
Would appreciate anyone who has a parts listing for the cup, cone & seals. My call to Jayco Parts Dep't couldn't connect. I had van s/no.

If your Discovery is the same as my Penguin Outback then it will be the Ford bearings. They use a Large and and a small bearing (it's been 12 months since I pulled them apart and I think the larger goes to the outside but I stand corrected on this), here's the part numbers:
SKF Bearings Ford Trailer Kit Part number VKBA3848 - this includes the bearing and cones, oil seal and split pin.
Smaller bearing part no.: LM 12749/710/Q
Larger bearing part no.: L 68149/110/Q
oil seal: 28600
If your Discovery uses bearings that are both the same size then it is the Holden kit. I don't have those part numbers.

I have a 2009 jayco..... Got my spare bearings from Autobarn.... After I had picked the brains from Jayco. And yes, as DJ says, Ford bearings.
And now,you have reminded me, I've used them and need some more as spares .....

Assuming you want to replace the bearings, seals etc ... remove one set and take it to a bearing specialist company and tell them what they're for. They'll measure them up and advice of the appropriate bearing to use and probably at a lot less cost than a named part. They'll also provide advice on greases, torque settings, service intervals etx all for free.

Without specifying your model number it's a bit hard to guess. The oldest Jayco brochure I have on file is the 2010 edition. 17 6" Discoveries have tare weights from 1440 to 1588 kg. This means that if they are single axle vans they will have either a 1600 kg overlay or a 2000 kg straight axle. What is the chassis plate spec for the maximum axle loading?
Assuming the axles are Al-Ko the 1600 kg axle will have the parallel bearing set. If the axle is the 200 kg one then they will have the 2 Tonne Bearing Set. You will find the bearing numbers on this page - Don't forget to renew the grease seal as well.
I suggest the correct ting to do is to disregard advice on forums unless the informant has the same model van. Things do change. At one time I remember some axles had a mixture in the set of bearings, one was Ford and the other was Holden. Support one side of the axle on something solid (axle stand.) Remove the bearings and grease seal. Positively identify them and then do your purchases.
