Hello all - has anyone been to Chaffey Dam recently? Looking for somewhere within a reasonable distance from home near Ballina. I have not been there, but hear it is great place. Looking for somewhere for 2-3 weeks with river/dam/lake for kayaks happy to move from one place to another as Chaffey is 7 day limit from what I have heard. Would be happy for recommendations SE Queensland if anyone can suggest? Free or min cost - power not required - toilets would be good. Many thanks.

Chaffey is ideal for kayaks.
I can't remember what it cost but it wasn't much. Can get very windy.

We have not been there for a few months
The dam is well down at about 35% of capacity ATM
When you get to the gate there was an honesty box with envelopes that you fill in your details and put your money in and place in the box, tear off the tag and place it on your dash
The charge then was $5/vehicle per day
Hot showers and toilets at the amenity block for a gold coin donation. The rubbish bins are up there too
There are some great spots to camp around the foreshore.
