I was just too buggered to even try mate. Did see it but not anything like that here near Warrnambool, VIC. Decided in the end bed was the better option, still pooped.

Great pics, Rocky. You must have a big one. Mine's 55-200mm but it was useless under cloudy skies here in Taree NSW. And wet.

My photos look quite pathetic, but that is from the iPad which is pretty limited for things like that. At least I saw it!)

Gday...
In many ways, it is not whether the camera (or photographer) is "good" or not ... it is one of the instances when it is true to say "size does matter"
Good lens, tripod, good weather and sky, self-timer and slow shutter speed make it easy. I just stand there and let it all happen

Taken out the back last night in Baldivis, WA. Bit of a cloud problem at times.

what sort of camera do you have?
what was your aperture, focal length and exposure time?

Nikon P520 just set on auto, 1000mm optical zoom, compact camera, no interchangable lens, less than $500 bucks, love it, had lots of cameras over the years and spent a lot of money on lenses etc, this is the new way to go. the new model is out now and it goes to 1600mm, still under $500 bucks, check out TVSN channel 14 I think. Cheers.
Not great, from iPad
Gday...
It was worth seeing ... but not as good as the 'build-up' had suggested.
Here a couple from my effort.
