Has any one ever worked for caravan builders, I am interested in how aluminium cladding is attached especially to the roof.
Some vans I have seen the cladding on the roof appeers to not be glued/stapeld down the only thing holding it on are the aircon and vents.
Thanks Henry

Hi Henry
If you look at most if not all caravans ,where the roof meets the walls ,they are generally stapelled thru to the
Wooden frame.
There is an aluminium strip called a J mould, this basically covers the edges, this is screwed and siliconed to the
Frame again ,then rubber mould fits into the track of the J mould to cover and waterproof the joins and screws
Go outside to your caravan and squeeze the rubber mould together and slip it out of the J mould and you will see what mean
I hope you understand a laymans view of how caravans are finished, of course anything attached to the roof helps but that's only
A bonus, and this info is coming from a retired commercial printer!!!!!!!
Regards. Brian

Thanks for your reply Brian, Sorry to take so long , The roof on my van looks as though it,s only been layed on it,s loose and doesnt seem firm it appears as if the only things holding it on are the air con and vents.
I would ring and ask the manafacturer but I know I wont get an answer as I have allready rang 3 times about other things and have not receaved a reply.
