Well, I've put the kybosh on setting out for at least 6 weeks. I slipped on the gravel driveway at my sons yesterday and down I went. Just had it xrayed and now sitting at Logan Emergency waiting to have it realigned and a cast put on. Caravan is now in my niece's backyard, where I'll be handy to downstairs bathroom. Thank goodness for family.

Shut the front gate Beth. If you did that to yourself what would you do to someone else.
Take it easy and recover soon.
Just shows how easy it is to hurt yourself as we get older.
I take a calcium and vitamin D Tab each day to help the ageing bones a little.

Oh Beth...how painful!!!
Sometimes, unfortunately, life gets in the way of even the best laid plans.
Rest up, follow Drs. orders and you will soon be on the road as planned.
On the plus side...you'll have plenty of time to break in your new e-reader.
Take care.

I understand Beth has been admitted back into hospital as she wasn't coping too well in her caravan while in plaster.
Change of plan, Beth has now been transported to her granddaughters place after being reassessed.

Thanks all. Yes I'm now in my granddaughters bedroom surrounded by all things pink and girlie.
I wasn't actually admitted back into hospital, long story, but here is the best place for me for now. I now have a walking frame, or should I say, hopping frame , and son is collecting a commode today. My sister from Tin Can Bay will be back from their jaunt around Oz next week and will take me up there. Their house is set up for crocks like me, so it'll be a lot easier. And I won't feel so much of a nuisance there.
I also have the extra problem of a sore shoulder. My niece's husband, in 'helping' me, pulled something in my shoulder so every time I lean on the frame to hop, it hurts like hell.
Everyone is saying it's just as well I wasn't out somewhere in woop woop when it happened. This is what my family was worried about me being out in the playground.

If you had been out in the Woop Woop somewhere Beth, it may never have happened. I understand them being worried but you would go nowhere if you worried all the time.

Possibly. I am always so careful where I walk these days, so I should never had tried to walk across this area of driveway.
Son wants me to put my name down for Housing Commission again, or an alternative at least until my op is over and done with. Then re-evaluate in 6 months or so. The op looks like it's coming up sooner rather than later. I have an appt with the Colorectal Review Clinic on the 20th.
I suppose that's the best way to go all things considered.

I'm the same too ever since I broke both arms in 2009. I now walk slower and eyes to the ground. Terrifies me I might do it again but it won't stop me from being out there. Could take you 10 yrs to get into a Housing Commission house. When I gave up mine in Echuca, I asked the question and that's what I was told.

I know, but he just doesn't seem to get it. I had my name down for years, but because I was paying so little at the other place, they took me off the list. And without telling me, mind you.

Thanks Lynda. I'm a bit of a crock aren't I?!
I'm sure it's a lovely spot, and I will get down there some time in the future. D&L's house is set up for crocks, and they'll be back this week to take care of 'little' sis.
RE: housing, I've now filled in the forms to register for NRAS housing, which I'm told works much quicker than Qld Housing Dept. And they're mostly brand new. There's a few up around the Sunshine Coast which interest me. There's no hurry anyway, I can hang around at D&L's until after Xmas if needs be.

Gosh Beth. I do hope you are ok. I can imagine how frustrating it must be for you having to deal with all the things that are happening just now. Good to hear you have family back-up, it's nice of them to help you out when you need it, and you certainly need it at the moment. Keep us up to date on your progress. Very best wishes June C.

Yes, I try not to let it all get me down. But I do sometimes feel like I've run over a hoard of Chinamen.
My kids have talked me into leaving it for awhile longer than the 6 weeks it'll take to get this cast off. I thought I'd get fitter out in the playground, but they've made me see that I need to get fitter BEFORE heading out. Besides, there's an op coming up sometime soon, and that WILL take some recuperation. I'll still have the caravan to do short trips when I'm able. And hopefully it won't be long before I get my much awaited for Campervan like Happywanders. That will definitely make life easier.
I did have a bit of a meltdown the first day, very teary, but I don't stay down for long. Like the song says, I just pick myself up, dust myself off, and start all over again.
