Can any of you shutterbugs out there tell me if its possible and if so how to change photo size of my library of shots ,  taken with camera set on 7m, so as to make them suitable for sending by e-mail ? I hate modern technology and why don't cameras come with decent size manuals these days ?

Regarding a User Manual. 

Go to Google and type in the name and model of your camera followed by User Manual.

99% of the time you will see a list of sites that have the User Manual as a *.PDF.

Download that and it should assist.

Another very easy programme to use, is Prish Re-sizer.  Just Google it.  Believe me, I need something very simple, and for me, this is it.  Puts Pics. in a seperate Folder, when it's resized them.

Best size for this Forum is 640.  [You get a choice of 4 sizes.]

I am not sure, but I read the above as oakforddavo wants to know how to make his camera take photos of higher resolution as it is set at the moment to take low resolution photos suitable for emailing. I don't know what "7m" means though.

I don't think he is looking for how to make his photos re-sized to lower resolution.

I could be wrong, but will await oakforddavo's advice perhaps.

I reckon ya could be right Sheba  I guess it all depends on where the punctuation or sentence emphasis is. I am renowned for misunderstanding stuff.

Sending for email usually means 7mB (in this case) to kb IMHO. Doesn't matter what physical size the photo original is it needs to be compressed.

Open photo in Office, select Picture, select compress, select email. THEN SAVE THE PICTURE AS A NEW FILE , I USE THE SAME PHOTO NUMBER AND ADD A "C" TO file name to make easier to find and attach to email.

When you close office select don't save the ORIGINAL PIC as you already have the original.

Double clicking mine doesn't open in office.  Also are you compressing the pic for email, which was the original question  ie changing the file size to kb for sending.

Thanks for advice - as I understand it the 7m size set on the camera gives picture suitable for larger prints with top pixels, the smaller numbers give pictures for varying size prints but the lowest size -0.3 is for e-mail usage. Since having my camera all photos have been taken set at the higher setting as I had less idea on the subject and just wanted the best results. However since recently needing to send a picture on e-mail I found I had this problem which I knew nothing about but with advice given I should be able to use one or other systems suggested to solve the enigma.

  Davo, I take it that you have a 7 M pixel camera and you are not referring to the file size of the pictures. If your camera produces JPG files then these pictures are already compressed. If you continue to compress them any further you will not reduce the size, you will just  reduce the quality of your pictures.

You can use most photo editing programmes to produce smaller pictures. Look for an option in the menu drop-downs that is labelled "resize." When you open up the sub-window you should see some fields with pixel sizes. You an try changing these and seeing how the picture ends up (I would suggest you use windows explorer to change the file properties to read only before you fiddle your pictures, this will mean you do not loose the original picture. Alternately save a copy of your original and fiddle the copy.)

 When resizing your picture a lot of editors will maintain the aspect ratio. Try resizing your picture to 640 pixels wide for e-mails. For posting pictures in forums 800 x 600 is an excellent size.

On the subject of manuals, I have not seen one that does not have a manual, you just need to download it from the manufacturers site if there is no hard copy with the camera. I have also seen more detailed and easier to read manuals from their web site than the hard copy one.
