We are new to this forum and would like to introduce ourselves. We live in Nerang, on the Gold Coast, and have just retired. We have a Jayco Discovery 17' poptop and tow with a 100 series Landcruiser. We have done a bit of travelling over the years but naturally while having to work our journeys have been short.
We have just got about everything ready, car all set up and ready to go. Just have to pack the van in next couple of weeks and away we go, just and our little dog BERNIE.
The only item we are worried about is a decent TV aerial. What to get. This is where I am asking for advice. We have heard about the Saturn, but when pricing it fitted not much change from $1,000. It seems a lot just to look at TV. I must admit I like my TV and reading but maybe not to that cost. I have looked at your forum and have seen notes on Winegard and Explorer aerials. Still not sure, has anyone got any ideas?. We would be most grateful for any advice. Hooe to meet up with some of you on the road.
Happy & safe travels,
Trev & Patti Norman

Hey there Trevour & Patti and welcome Im up the road at Springwood and yes we travel whenever we can wherever we can. I have a 100 series cruiser with a full van. We use a winguard aerial. Its worked well most of the time - On the rare occassion that the signal strength is bad I have used a straightened coat hanger - bent in an arch from each wing to wing on top and it works a treat. Cheap fix of those rare occassions but most of the time I have never had an issue...with a good 12/240v digital TV with built in tuner. Hope this helps KT

I would consider the VAST sattelite system otherwise you may be out of TV range a lot of the time. Of course it depends where you want to travel to.
Aussie Paul.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for your reply, but I think the VAST system can run into thousands. Afraid we have to watch our spending.

I understand Trev & Patti, have to watch pennies ourselves. There are quite a few people on here that use the VAST system so hopefully they will chime in. I am looking into VAST for ourselves as well.
Aussie Paul.

Hi Bear do you live near the Gold Coast and if so where did you purchase your vast system. Thanks for you info.
Trev & Patti
Hi, I have a spare vast tv system (decoder, card, tripod and dish) you guys can have if you want, just sort the postage and it is yours... Shouldn't be much, can freight from darling downs to rocklea easily, don't know how dish would go with auspost? Does need new coaxial and you will need one of these though as we only have one but they are cheap enough on feebay.

Glad someone can use it, been sitting here for ages and wondering when I would find someone who could use it.
Long story short, I just ditched telstra after threatening me with $255000 in fines and/or 2 years in jail for increasing my signal, now have a wifi phone with the new satellite nbn but haven't received the number for it yet so I can't receive calls cause I don't know the number but am happy to ring you guys if you give me your number and best time to call (PM sent)
