There have been a few new ideas that I have put into use, the first was Vic's posting about using eye rings to tie down the awning and of course to tie the clothes line. The idea is to remove the bolt at the top of the awning leg when there is no pressure on the spring. Take the bolt to a hardware shop and match the nut and buy the correct thread eye bolt, it will need cutting down so leave a nut on the bolt to re thread if damage occurs. Best to buy the snap locks, all up $14
The second is Darrel's idea about using a power drill to screw in the awning pegs. I recently bought a hammer drill but also had the lifting of the bed in mind.
Have been looking for a combination set up to play music under the awning and have come up with the ideal unit and it saves me buying the music player plus the speakers. The Sony speaker is a Bluetooth unit and it plays from my phone and on special at Dick Smiths.
Another good idea is to extend the awning by using tent poles and fixing the privacy screen to them. John

Gday...
I will definitely pinch the "awning extension" idea, John.
I have a 75% shade awning wall but rarely use it because it seems to 'shut me in' and/or 'shut others out'. That extra shade will be a much better use for it.
Cheers - John

I hear what you are saying John, with the screen down fellow campers walk by whereas with the extension out there is more likelihood of them stopping and having a chat.
As a solo traveller I prefer to increase the opportunity to have a chat and the extension is a good topic. John

I like the extended awning idea John, have never seen that used before.
Just a warning for those wanting to add eye bolts on the end of the awning roller arms, make sure you have the right type of awning with the end caps on the arms, another make of awning can release the spring mechanism inside the roller if the bolt is taken out.
