has anyone done the road from L/Ridge to Griffith ?
any help would be great

A few months ago we traveled from Echuca to Morree Via Deniliquin, Hay, Cobar, Bourke, Walgett. Echuca through to Bourke was in good condition all the way through and a very interesting drive - only criticism as such was not a lot of rest stops.
Bourke to the Lightening Ridge turn off was average and the Lightening Ridge turn off to Morree was rough as guts. Would not recommend that you tow a van over this section

Have not gone from Bourke to Lightning Ridge (went there via Coonabarabran), but if you come down to Walgett, then to Bourke, should be ok.
From Bourke to Griffith is fine. Sealed highway, mostly flat country. There are good caravan parks in Bourke (Kidmans Camp at North Bourke is excellent), Cobar, and parts south.
A word of warning - if you are going from Hay to Echuca, be very careful about pulling over onto the roadside verges if it has been at all wet. We are not the only travellers to have bogged 4WD and caravan through there - and with some wheels still on the bitumen!

Trouto,Lightning Ridge to Griffith is sealed all way providing you travel via Hillston.The worst part and really not to bad is the section from the Ridge to Walgett,a bit rockin and rollin,just watch the cattle grates can be a bit rough.
Kidman Camp at Bourke is good park but dont take dogs,the park in town does (Mitchell C/P).
Only one C/P at Cobar $35 P/N.
Hillston C/P nice park $25 P/N
Goolgowie nice C/P I think now $18 for seniors.

The section from Wallget to Lightning Ridge is crap, sealed but narrow in places broken edges lots of dips and grids many not sign posted.
We went from Moree to The Ridge via Collarenibr last year, went the back way from Colli the The Ridge (after checking local conditions) best 90 kms of dirt I've every driven on

There is a nice little caravan park in Brewarrina. I believe there is a good museum run by the local aboriginals but it is closed on the weekends (which is when we stopped there.)

Just done Bourke, Cobar etc - great roads. Walgatt to LR - very bouncy so just go slow.
