had a big day. don't know why we kept Strops year 1 report card and my grade 7 exams and all my test papers and projects from high school and report cards and references for a job from 1975. and every card ever given to me , strop and the kids. omg. these things haven't seen the light of day since I don't know when. strop has gone to the dump with the ute full and the house looks like a war zone. bring on tomorrow. how is everyone else going who is doing this at the moment? we need to start a support group. rocket

Well, I pushed settlement back a week, so I still have 4 weeks to pack my stuff for storage, get work done on the caravan (diesel heater, solar wiring etc etc), get the wiring fixed on the car, sell half my furniture, give stuff to the Salvos, run a load to the tip, keep my gardens and lawns looking good, catch up with mates to say my goodbyes (don't plan on living in Melbourne again), do a tax return, sort out a mailing address.... And then I should be about ready.
The sooner I stop surfing the net for things 'I really need?!' And browsing forums for info, the better. I'm going nowhere fast at the moment ;)
I suppose I need to pack the van too I say all this, and right now I'm kicking back and loading all my cd's onto my Mac, packing's over rated!
Have fun Rocket and Dougwe

Fun Not sure if that describes it MJ I am finding the chucking out bit no problem but when it comes to what to keep I am confused as I will have to carry it all in the back of the Tug for a while I think. Not paying for storage

We're about to start sorting through our stuff. Hope to have the house on the market this time next year, then quit work and travel / work our way around the country. Looking forward to the travel part. Not so much the clearing out part!

hi, just reading what you are doing is wearing me out. I agree, the internet uses a lot of my time too but I am trying to get things done, have a rest and a coffee and a surf and then off again. Found heaps of old vinyl records and guess what? they r worth more than we paid for them. getting rid of them tomorrow. got rid of dvd's n books today. had no idea there was so much money "in stuff I thought rubbish". are you doing this all on your own? regards. rocket.

Hi Rocket,
i didn't realise vinyls were worth so much either! And yes, I'm doing this by myself, so in theory I only have one persons junk, but that's still a lot of junk ;) having said that, I've got stuck in and Going well. It's all the gardening stuff and tools that are a quandary. One storage place wanted $200 per month to store my 6x4 box trailer!!!!!! So I'm reluctantly selling it.

Same here. I have 3 days off this week and will be hitting the op shops and church market collections, my daughter has also dropped her donations at my place and my son in law has pulled down a rotting pergola and shade cloth. The yard is a mess the house is a mess... ARRRRRRRGH!!!!!!. Hopefully by next week my place will be presentable for me to get it into the agent's hands and on the market.

Well the hard work is done. We got a skip to get rid of the mouse damage things from the garage and a timber pergola pulled down. Most of the furniture that will not fit in the GF has gone, the stuff that is going is packed into boxes in the spare room. Cleaning almost done and the unit will officially go on the market next week. The place echoes now and the dogs cannot fathom what is going on. My daughter and son in law have been so great by helping and making me see what I really won't need anymore and doing the organising...... After we all move in and things have been consolidated there will be another cull of duplicated things.

Now I have to think of a design for the GF....
