We are 'in talks' with some friends of ours about 'doing' the longest shortcut, but only from Winton Qld to Laverton WA in about 18 months time. However, although we will have replaced our off road camper trailer by then, our friends have a Coromal Navigator camper van.
Would appreciate others opinion as to whether the Coromal would be suitable for such a trip, or perhaps they may have to consider an off road camper like we intend to get.

Met a couple in an ordinary caravan who did it no problem. Said the road is pretty good other than about 40km of bull dust. Just blocked off their vents. 800 km of gravel. Steve from Caravancaravan.com.au is doing it later in October so no doubt will put something in a newsletter sometime. Take fuel though - $2.40+ if you can get it ......
