Found a Keyboard today, that I couldn't resist. [Op-shop of course.] It is only twelve and three quarter inches wide. The numbers don't work though. Letters are larger than normal.
Can any-one tell me why some of the letters would have numbers on the front of the keys ?
You will be able to turn these on and they become a number pad for "excel" and doing accounts. Not sure how to turn them though

Top row of keys, 4in from right is number lock key, Sheba. Push that on and you should be able to use those keys in the letter key board. Normally the number lock key is for a side panel of number keys.

Hi Sheba
If you press the key marked num lock then the keys with the numbers in the front should result in the numbers when pressed.
press num lock again and the pressing the keys should result in the characters on the top of the keys.
ie num lock turns the keys into a simple numeric keyboard (where marked in the front)
this is only an educated guess however :)
cheers

123 Yipeee !!! Don't quite know how I did it, but I pressed both the Caps Lock key and the Num Lock key at the same time, and that did something.
Thanks very much every-one.

Sheba.

Hi Sheba
I remember giving that keyboard a clean-up - would have kept it aside for you if I knew you were looking for one Thought of taking that skull & bones thing at the top off, but it's stuck on real tight. Is it the numbers above the alphabetical keys that don't work, or were you referring to the 'keypad' numbers?

The Function Key in the Bottom Left (next to control Key)activates certain keys on the keyboard where you see small letters or numbers (opaque clolour)
In the side face of each normal key with letters or numbers.
This is what that key is for. Same on Most normal laptops

Hi Joe. Wasn't looking for another one, but fell in love with this when I saw it, and at that price, why not grab it. [One dollar folks.] I had it fixed last night, but at the moment it's not doing the numbers again. Maybe it needs re-setting every time after it's switched off overnight ?
Sometimes I get numbers and letters when I type a word.
The numbers above the letters won't show now. Do you think it's fixable ? Will have to plug in the other one to get into my bank.
KT., is that the Fn key ? I've never used that before. I don't really want to use the numbers that are on the Letter keys. Just the usual ones. Thanks anyway.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Ok. I've figured out how to get the letters instead of the numbers on the front of them, but it's a real pain in the neck having to hit the Fn key all the time, otherwise I get things like this. [eg. 352e. instead of like.] Still haven't got the normal numbers back though.
There must be a simpler way to re-organise it.

Sheba.

You should get the numbers entered from the row of keys below the F1 to F12 keys whether you have the number lock on or off. When you switch the number lock on you should get the keys with the numbers/symbols on the front side to operate as a number key pad. The number lock key is a push on/push off key action.
The Fn key at the bottom of the keyboard of my Asus Trio turns the keys to function as shown by the extra symbols on the keys. It must be held down to work (ie it is not a push on/push off key like the caps lock or number lock keys.) When held down it also turns the cursor keys into Home/End/page-up/page-down keys, it may do the same on your keyboard.
