Just got back from the WW 2 Forts , and the nat parks and the Aust Army have put on a great display the show off the refurbishment of the buildings and the track. The local Army boys broughtin a massive M 177 howitzer, 155mm. Its has a range of 45klms! and fire all kinds of ammo, even guided gps shells! Nat parks were holding free giuded walks and As its only a 3klm loop, I went along for a look. If you are ever on Maggie Island, give the forts walk a look. Bill

That's one mean looking gun Bill, looks like it has a telescopic recoil ?
I saw the Fort before it was refurbished, shown around by a volunteer.
Even then it was well worth a visit.
Thanks for sharing that
Air and nitrogen recoil, one of the arty men told me. Impressive, eh.
